I keep my straps in my box also. A guy asked me why I do that cuz it means throwing a strap and then rolling the whole thing up when your done.

I told him I do it for three reasons

    1. I don't feel comfortable throwing buckles
    2. I might not have that trailer the next day
    3. Our company doesn't want us throwing buckles

You can see in this photo how the excess is folded up between the strap and the load or trailer

You can go ahead and hook the strap and not make two or three trips around the trailer.

Why would I make two or three trips around the trailer?

I keep my straps in my box on the passenger side of my truck where I keep my big lumber tarps. All my winches are on the driver side. I hook my buckles then toss the rolled strap over the load. I roll my straps so that they unroll if the get stuck on top of the load.

Then after throwing my straps I run them through the winches, fold the excess, and tighten them down.

    I KNOW! I KNOW!
To water it so it grows! All plants need water. A few of Boyd's new trailers still have sap on the wood!

I was just adding to your list of what I am sure you were already doing. Some guys roll the straps with the buckle on the inside so when they throw the strap the have to go to the other side hook it and come back then wind the strap up on the winch.

If you roll the strap up with the buckle on the outside throw the straps over hook the buckles and then go tighten your straps, that's the way I was asumming you were rolling them up.

    LOL you guys are lucky!
If Boyd would put storage boxes on these trailers, maybe I could carry everything I need instead of asking the shipper for it.
