in reality why dont companies pull backround checks before they bus/fly a person to oreintation? Like i have some csa points that kinda worry me but i wouldnt want a company getting my hopes up getting me out to oreintation wasting my time and then saying sorry we cant hire you. its always these otr jobs that do that. the local gigs will simply run ur background and call u back inna day with feedback.

Shouldn't the driver be honest on the application, anyway?? When a driver signs the application, therre is a line that says something like, "I swear under penalty of purjery, that the information on the application is true and correct, and any omissions and misinformation could result in immediate termination of employment, or, if not hired, the hiring process will cease."

AMEN!!! In this day and age of finding out personal information on someone, you might skate for a few days after lying, but eventually it catches up and yer fired and even though there are laws about what a former employer can say about a former employee, it usually comes out during the background investigation that applicant so and so has an "Integrity issue/problem" when a perspective employer calls to verify whether or not Mr.So and So worked there and if you would hire that person back. Don't lie. Not worth it!

Funny I worked for WSXI for 2.5 years and never had a problem with them. i only left because i wanted to be home more and still make decent money, but 2 years later i have yet to find that. I had a great dispatcher that ran my ### off while i was on the road. I made great money as well. only thing i had a problem with was i was rarely home to get to do anything with the money i made.

Maybe they sent him home due to the motel being overbooked, and they wanted him to rest up.
Maybe his background check revealed years of humanitarian work with the peace corp.
    Geeze....

To be fair to the OP, Western Express sent me home after orientation and load securement training because I didn't have enough "recent verifiable experience". My total "recent verifiable experience" was listed on the application I initially sent in, and again on the application I completed during orientation. I also discussed my prior experience (or lack thereof) with the company recruiter prior to scheduling and attending orientation. Western Express is, hands down, the most completely disorganized company it has ever been my displeasure to deal with.

I can seriously sympathize with falling through the cracks when getting "hired".
I was "hired" onto a tractor supply account, went through the whole song and dance.
Back ground, paper work, orientation, signed off on final paper work..But ohhh wait..
You havent been driving for at least 2 years?
Hell No!! and it said so in my application.
And here I am today not driving there. It happens, move on,rinse, repeat.
