So let me ask you this because it happened once again and even Ethan has told me the same thing.
I get a preplan, says 8:30AM appt made. Now I called the customer and found out its a window and they open at 7am. So why not put 7am? I ended up stopping at a pilot the night before and parked next to another Roehl flat bedder that was there before me so I expected him to be getting up the same time I was to go pick up.
Didn't happen. I get up early and roll over to the customer, wait couple hours to get loaded then as I'm throwing my tarps he rolls in. Tells me Roehl said 12:00pm appt for him and this place is 100% window. Both me and him have the same delivery place and time, Friday at 07:00am.
My question is do these planners even care to get proper information for the load or do they just put random digits thinking "Oh that sounds good, maybe if I mark appt made he will still show up early." I've had GP loads.. They are 24/7 windows that say appt made and this is a extremely common customer.
Maybe it's lazyness but them and CSR make this job hell some timesDrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I can't stand when our loads say "appt made" then you get to the customer and it was a window

Hey Tank the reason its hit or miss on the customs fee is the officer....sometimes they think Roehl has the Transponder that auto pays (which I never understood why they didn't since Roehl does a lot of Canada) but the ones on the NY buffalo side always seem to get their 10.75...queenston lewiston though...I always seemed to get away with not paying...but Detroit I always had to pay...

Here is what I would do, you can't make someone else do work. So I'll assume you get along with your FM and don't want to change. So control what you can control. With every dispatch call your shippers and receivers to verify directions and appointments. If the customer says they're FCFS then contact your FM and let them know that you we're told by the customer that they're FCFS. This should force the issue and start getting you results, it's also a bonus to the company because trucks become available sooner. Sooo, that is what I would do. Well actually it's not, but it's my advice and seems like it will work.Cheryl, childerscarl1, DrtyDiesel and 1 other person Thank this.

I did this with the Georgia Pacific I go to for plywood in Florida. Their FCFS and when I called they told me if my pickup time is between 0600-1500 to expect to sit for a LONG time. So I try to get there from now on between 0200-0500 or after 1500.

That makes sense. I usually cross at Port Huron and it has been 1 time I paid and 2 times I haven't. I will say, the Canadians have HOT customs officers. Although, I did have a B!tch on my cross over this time. She was still better looking than US officers I have seen. -
I brought a load from canada to U.S, crossed at windsor.
Cleared U.S customs in like1 minute, then waited
Five minutes at the bridge toll booth, while the attendent
Rearranged his clipboard. No customs fee, bridge only.
Does the ACE have anything to do with customs fees ? -
No..ACE has nothing to do with it....the 10.75 is for using customs....like I said its hit or miss...especially with Roehl cause they see Roehl enough they just assume yall have the transponder that auto pays....try crossing in Buffalo or Alexandria Bay...you'll get nailed...
childerscarl1 Thanks this. -
I think it's a bridge fee
