Some companies do, most do not. Personally, I won't use it because the tubing smells of smoke. Second, most of the time I spend the night at the docks, rarely at a truck stop. -
I use Idleaire all the time, 4 times last week! I love it, my company pays for it.
-
we are o/o. We love using it. It really saves on our fuel bill. We are gold members-which is $10 every 6 months. Silver membership is free. But being a gold member we also only pay $1.85/hour versus silver membership $2.18/hour. Crappy thing is that you only get the basic cable channels but for $4/visit to upgrade. But IdleAire is always having little specials to upgrade for free. Being a gold member you also get discounts on movie rentals. I love that option. You have access to movies that are still in the movie theaters. For us they are only $9 or something. It's cheaper then taking my wife to the actual movies.
If you can talk your company to sign up for a fleet thing...good. You'd love using it. -
$2.18/hour!? What a rip-off! That only makes sense if you're the kind of wasteful driver that runs the truck engine more than he should!
So a ten hour break costs $21.18 for a *silver* member? Wow no wonder Idleair is losing money.
They pissed me off to no end when they started installing all that crap. I remember pulling into the Petro in Hammond, Lousiana, late one nite, tired, out of hours, and ROWS AND ROWS of parking spaces were closed off to set that Idleair crap up, and there were no parking spaces left!
I was in Knoxville a few weeks back, and the pushy Idleair guy was trying to give me a *free* trail.
Hebasto heaters and generators are the way to go, not Idleair!
*edit*
Do they give you a TV to watch? I don't have a TV so if they don't provide one, what's the benefit of the channels the offer. -
you can rent a tv off em and they give the deposit back when u return teh tv i think. or you can get a coax to usb converter and watch it on your laptop too.
im a silver member but when i need idle air i cant find the ###### things and when i dont need it every truckstop i pass has it.
however the nice thing about being an idle air member... is i roll into a truckstop that is full i roll up show'em my card and viola ive got a reserved spaceplug in the thing in my window, pretend like im using it and ive got hassel free parking all night.
-
does this really work..what they move someone out or ???
-
nooo they dont kick someone out. but if you roll in... and thers no more parking spaces available. and theres idle air spaces there....
then im not sol. i just flash my card and bam. i got a space to park for the night. i have used this to my advantage only once thus far -
I use them all the time. For parking only, in cool weather. I quit using their services long ago. Mainly because it seems like a huge waste of money and time.
$21 a night/day ? For about $10 more. I can get a private room with a private shower, and laundry room that isn't crowded for a few bucks more. I also get a pool (most locations) and the ability to go to the can without getting dressed. -
