A bumper pull has a considerably lower load capacity than a fifth wheel or gooseneck . The trailer itself will probably weigh over a ton and you won't get half the mpg a van would get , especially with a popup camper . Bad plan .

Hello I have a few questions about expediting for anyone on this thread. I see that most of the expediting business happens in the Midwest area and on the east coast. I live in the northwest, is that a barrier to working in expediting? Also and I know this will vary depending on different circumstances, what could a husband/wife team make driving a straight truck and working for a fleet owner? Just a ballpark figure, maybe the averages for the good months vs the slow months. Thank you.

If you contact FedEx Custom Critical recruiting they will send you the income averages and percentage of availability for each class of truck the previous year .akguy907 Thanks this.

My dually gets 17 mpg in the city unloaded and fuel costs me $1 per gallon. I think I can make it
....until I find a decent straight truck.

I worked as a team driver for a few months before my family made me go a different direction because i was only home once or twice sometimes a month. Panther is a good company to work for. You can negotiate your mileage price and bonus price with them. dont get stuck in states like El Paso or in Iowa , hard to get out of and once i set there for a week before I got out. As you know, if your not moving, your not making money. However even with the downtime for a few days here and there we still was pulling down over a 1000 a week after taxes. that is as a team not the owner of the vehicle...If you have any questions you can call me and i will tell you what I know...email me at robertfrederick43@yahoo.com and i will give you my number.

I tried it for a bit before the great recession and it was hit and miss. Unless you get a great dispatcher you will be sitting. To do expedite you must play dirty when you get to an area..say Nashville...where there are 10 other trucks sitting if you want to make any kind of money. My advice play the "first out card" often and kiss butt to your dispatcher to get one up on the other drivers....

I need to ask about work in expediting. I also live in the Southwest (So Cal) is there much work on the West Coast or at least the 10 Western States for Straight Trucks or are most of the loads back East? It would be great if I could maybe get home to California once in a while. Let me know will it be worth my time to try to work loads on the West Coast?

With the 9 months I was with Panther I gotta said most of there loads are east coast and mid west, not much coming out in the west coast but they get loads out of there time to time.

It is good idea to merge with other...
Because One part of business have to handle by himself(as a owner), he hard to work hard if he want to earn more profit..
Hence if he increase profit from his(your partnership) side then you will also enjoy then profile, as well as it will increase your goodwill in market too..
