so what your saying is that the trailer sticks out 6 inches then the tractor on each side.
my tires stick out 1 inch beyond my 102 trailer. so does the cab.
i have yet to see any trailer that sticks out beyond the tractor. or tractor that is skinnier then the trailer.
now the 94 t600 i once pulled, i believe was 1/2 inch inside the trailer. -
colorado didn't think so when i pulled a 96 with load hanging over. 1 inch on the right 2 inch on the left making 99.
-
What kind of tires are you running??? Mine come nowhere near as wide as my 102 trailer, and I'm running duals.

Think they had a rubber tape meassure.

I read just fine. 23 CFR doesn't mention securement equipment being exempt from width measurement. It specifies quite a few things that are to be excluded, but it doesn't state or imply that securement devices are exempt. That is what I would like to see and read about.

i'm not the original owner of this truck. so anything could have been modified. but i have duals. truck is in the shop right now and trailer is parked as i'll be pulling a tanker when truck gets out of shop. i haven't really paid much attention but i know that when i back under the flat the tires stick out JUST a little beyond the rub rails. not so much the tread pattern. but the sidewalls.
now the tanks we pull. those are defenitly skinner then the truck. but the flat is just about as wide.
what autocar is insinuating is that trucks are 6 inches skinnier then trailers. i could see daycabs. but not sleepers. we have FL'S long nose and aero. and we have KW's. none of them are skinner then the trailers. and some of our flats happen to be 96. -
don't know about the rubber. but every load i hauled with that trailer left me with no walking room along the side. glad i only pulled it temporarily.
