Good call on the speedometer head, turns out that's what's needed. Dealership didn't have it in stock, and that website doesn't have an either.. the search continues =(

Good to hear. If the speed works, then the sensor & wire(s) should in most cases be OK. My odometer quit working a month ago is the only way I found this all out.

Not to disagree with another poster here, but you mentioned it stopped working right after a truck wash. I suspect that water may have been introduced somewhere and the circuit or sender is the problem. The sender is bolted to the drivetrain. Check there first. I doubt it is the speedo head in the dash where its always dry.

No, the chip is not an EEPROM (electricaly eraseable programmable read only memory) chip where it can be programed. Its made to be a counter. A replacement speedo will indicate a mileage of zero and in many states it will have to be documented on the truck title that the speedo was replaced at x number of miles.

Glad you found the problem. Definately would not have been my first guess.

Went to the dealership and they said the calibration was off so they calibrated it, went on a test run and the speedometer wwent to 80mph when we were going 50ish, went back and a new guy recalibrated it and said it was the head, all the wiring was working correctly its old and I guess it was meant to hit 1million
