1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I am just curious. I am looking at schools right now to obtain my CDL. I thought if I got it first that more opportunities would be available to me. I found a list of 20+ companies who are willing to hire recent grads. However, I have called/contacted everyone of them and seem to be having a problem with located a company that is hiring out of AZ. Is anyone aware of any companies that hire out of AZ besides Swift, Sneider(who I believe is only hiring teams right now) and Werner (I beleive is also only hiring for teams), CRST(I will stay away from), and Central Refrigerated?

since you don't have a cdl yet..you might have to start at one of the starting companies to go thru their school. if you get the cdl on your own,you can try applying all the local companies. you just might get lucky. make sure you get at least hazmat and double/triples endoresment if you decide to go this route. nothings impossible lol

i really would not know about What other (than you mentioned) hire out of AZ as far as training companies, but once yo have experience there is a lot here. Are you looking at schools in Phx area ? they can tell you who hires their students. If it's AIT, you are only going to hear Weiner or Swift since that's who they contract for. Knight has training company as well....

Go to a good school, Actually Call Watkins Shepard, Ask them what schools in AZ. that they accept/recommend, They will then bring you up to Missoula Mt. I highly suggest that you fly into Missoula rather then taking the 4 week 6 days(jk) bus trip with ex-cons and anyone else that can't fly, You may have to pick up the tab on the flight keep your receipt and then they will reimburse you for the amount of the bus which for me was about $20.00 difference, They put you up in their rooms and you eat in the kitchen there are go into town to get food, You will be there 10 days, each and every moment will be an interview, you will never know when someone is watching you, you then will practice what you have learned in school you will have to prove that you know your way around a truck, then they will hire you in the last few days of training and send you on your way, they will monitor you and keep good track of you, They will provide you with a "Red Book" that will become your bible everything in there you will use sometime in your first 3 months of driving a truck under your power. They pay you in Orientation as well as you get out on the road and get going, they will increase your pay as they promise, they will even split a load if you are under a load and you are due for a raise during this load they will split the load with the numbers on the exact day you are due. I wish you luck.
