Just changed the head gaskets on my mbe 4000. Everything was fine for about 1000 miles. Now its leaking coolant again from the heads. I machined the heads and replaced the bad gaskets with the updated version of the original head gaskets. The gaskets were looked up and verified that they are the correct ones for my style heads by the Detroit shop. Not to mention that I also replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets. I did not use any sealant as I was told not to by the mechanics at my local Detroit shop. Other thing that I did not do was change the bolts. I used the same original bolts as they were measured by the same mechanics and told that they were fine. Can anyone please help me out? Where can I buy germetic? Where exactly should I use germatic? Should I have used any other sealant/high temp silicone on the gaskets? All help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

GrillN...I had same thing..Instead of machining existing heads, I bought remanned ones that had a 'rib' around that matched the new gaskets...I also got all new bolts...didnt catch Pablo's advice on the germetic, but it has been so far so good...I just made sure to torque those new bolts down to spec

Are you guys checking the liners for leakage? There were issues with this early on.
