It depends on if u have youre cdl or not. I talked to the Mav recruiter last week and she said that they no longer put u through their school unless u are going into the specialized division. So if u are in the area for(US division) and don't have youre class a,(like me) then u have to get it by some other means. So I am looking into a local truck driving school. Sucks that they did that but the recruiter said that the wait there(Newport) was getting out of hand. Oh well, I'll get my class A one way or the other.

I already have my cdl but no exp. the recruiter said I will go to the us div. wich is what I wanted. I guess I have to just wait to hear from him I called twice and left him messages but no response yet. I dont know if where your at they have the work force investment act but they will pay for your truck driving school and pay you to go. this is where I edited I've been reading the threads you drive a cement truck right good luck.

Hey guys I am leaving for Little Rock on Friday, I'm excited and nervous. Start orientation on Sunday. I asked a ? earlier in this thread about already going thru orientation with another company and they have been waiting for employment verification from my previous employer. The company was Swift, I know i've saw alot of bad about them so maybe this is an answered prayer. I really am looking forward to this opportunity but does anyone know if Swift can hold this against me on my DAC or otherwise. All info is greatly appreciated.:biggrin_25525:

I don't think swift can put anything on your dac for that but I have heard of them puting things on your dac that you didnt do so if they decide to dream something up. I am a little worried myself I went to their school for 2 days and left it was so bad there but they give you three days to leave if you want and not owe them nothing but knowing swift. but i went to a local school and have heard nothing from swift yet so Im just waitin to hear back from my mav recruiter.

how long did it take for you to get into orientation?

Hey Big I probably waited for 2 to 3 weeks maybe even 4 but finally heard back a week ago about everything being good.I was glad cause I had went to swifts orientation and it was ok but they dont make sure about previous employment or anything until you pass their test they have you do the first day. I passed everything and came home to wait for a trainer and to also be coded but my previous employer drug their feet so I was told I could use my w-2s to prove that I was there but Swift said no. So when Maverick called and said I was ready to go I was happy to be getting back to work and with I think a better company.I also asked them was all the checks they needed to do on me already done and they said yes that I was basically in I just had to do some test with them which was not that bad. Oh yea that reminds me can anyone tell me any info about the test and were any of them hard? Thanks for any info.:biggrin_25525:

I should know mon. or tue. and hopefully go that weekend to orientation. its a fun wait at the bus stop for swift to pick you up isnt it with all the homeless out front in memphis lol. I had to wait 6 hours for the buss.

I used to drive straight trucks (class B) down in fla. and made 15 bucks an hour at R.T.I. you should see if there is one near you that needs drivers I dont think I am supposed to put web sites on here but its reasturant technologies inc. they have depots all over I wish there was one close to me I would go back there.

I'm ready to go with Maverick though. Like I said I can finally go for it so I'm ready. I just have to wait until after January till I can go to school. Kind of sucks having to wait but it will be worth it. I went to a local small truckstop a couple of weeks ago and talked to a Mav driver who was parked in the lot. I won't say his name but he was cool about it and answered a lot of questions for me. It just backed up everything else I have read on this thread, Mav is a top notch company.
