I'm about to sign on with CRST Malone. But due to somethings I've been hearing, I have taken a few minutes to rethink this decision, before I actually commit. I don't want to make the wrong decision. And the best way to make the right decision is to learn.
So in your own words, using your own experience, which companies is better. And why?
CRST Malone or Mercer

Im the same boat fixn to go malone I think they are all n all good the fuel card scares me but I hear good and bad about them all im think about going to dary
-
I'm not to concerned about the fuel card thing. Because I like paying cash for my fuel. I can usually get fuel at a Walmart (Murphys) as cheap if not cheaper than truck stops, even with their discounts. And the fuel, 9in my truck) seems to burn as good if not better.

Mercer is much better than CRST Malone but you can dook with CRST or do great with mercer, mercer is more truthful and more like the big league

Just left Mercer after 5 months.. Yes, SOME loads are 2.00 a mile but they usually go to DEAD places and with DH and sitting, that rate slips to nothing. We averaged 1.65 all miles, with a step deck, with load levelers, accepting Oversize. How many times can you say " Are you joking? " to your coordinator. Yes, you can turn down loads , so you just SIT in the truck for DAYS, while your fixed costs are ticking away. Kept in touch with a few from orientation and most of them are gone. They simply do not have enough freight for all the leased on suckers they recruit. We got crap offers out of Chicago, Memphis, little Rock, Detroit, Pittsburgh, pretty much everywhere. But Mercer gets 24% while you wear the truck out. Same everywhere, tho. Trucking is impossible to make a decent living. The shippers put it out to bid, the brokers put it out to bid and the truckers who runs the cheapest gets the job. Please don't tell me about professionalism, safety, being on time, building" relationships"... we are all those things. No one cares .. unless you are cheap.
hrdman2luv Thanks this. -
Did you buy their trailer? If so, are they still holding you responsible for the payments?Last edited: Sep 23, 2012
