Get Away From Me!!!!

i hate those slow truck races....as soon as i can i go right by you guys and put some distance in there, then i go back to my cruise control at 67mph

 

He must have been faster than you because he caught up with you at some point.

You could have slowed a little up to let him by, but you were probably trying to make the best time you can. But then again, he probably was trying to do the same.

You will see more of this in the future as alot of the trucks will be set to the enjoyable truck racing speed.

 

I've had the displeasure of operating an empty, governed truck before. It becomes really annoying because there you are, stuck at one speed, up hill, or down. At least with a load you can get a little run off the hills.

2xR knows that even water will run down hill.

 

I also drive a 65MPH truck. There is on sure fire way to avoid a driver like this.

Slow down, let him by, run a 63 for 10 minutes and you'll never see him again.

Or just catch the next rest area, take a 15min break.

It is easy to put the blame on the other driver, but once you decided to not to let him by you have just become as bad as him.

I've had this discussion in truck stops with other drivers, and they never like to hear this, but it is nothing more than another form of road rage. BY YOU!

Part of being a "professional" drivers is not only taking responsibility for your own actions, but being able to adjust to others on the road, 4wheelers and big trucks alike.

When you got into this battle of wills, did it ever occur to you to look in your mirror and see how many vehicles were being involved in your dispute. Did it ever occur to you that tempers were being fueled not only by the moron trying to pass you, but also by your own stubbornness.

Do you ever have a truck passing you at a very slow rate and simply reach over to your cruise and knock it down 2mph and let him by. In this way it takes 10 secs to be passed instead of 10 minutes.

Your anger will only make the situation worse, it will NEVER, NEVER make things better.

Not all drivers will be courteous or professional, but if you make it a point to be, that's one closer.

 

Well said evertruckerr, i too am governed at 65MPH, Same thing, i make it a point to slow down, not 2 or 3 miles per hour, but enough that the driver trying to pass immediately realizes it, and thanks me.

No point in drag racing, like someone said he must've been going a bit faster, because he caught up with you at some point. If you were empty, it wasn't because you slowed down on a hill.

Take it easy, driver. We all deal with the same things on a regular basis, no need to get upset about it. I can't count the amount of times i caught up to a 64MPH Celadon truck that wouldn't let me by... But it happens, no point in getting upset... You're just gonna get grey hair sooner! Or worse!

 

Back in the day when I had a slow truck I would just slow down a little and let them pass. No sense racing another truck down the highway.

Exactly!!! We are governed at 68 mph and, if someone is determined to get by but just can't quite make it, we'll back off to 65 or so for a few minutes and they're gone forever. By not letting him by, you're making life worse for a LOT of people. Just my opinion
