It sounds like you just got scammed. Get you a lawyer.
MNdriver Thanks this. -
i heard that as long as the irp account is not canceled from previous owner it will still show that so i think it might take some days to clear

I would go to your local IRP office with paperwork in hand, it might be a good idea to take the guy with you that sold the truck to you.

What is IRP?

Oh, International Registration Plan.

This can happen with personal vehicles also. Here in NC when you sell a car you have to sign the title over to the guy and go to the dmv with him and hand it to the people there to avoid confusion. With any government office stuff takes a few days so I wouldn't panic yet.

i was plannig on doing that but if the owner says he doesn't have time to go the irp office with me, i guess im gonnna have to hire a lawyer

IRP has everything to do with plates and really nothing to do with the title. As soon as they show transfer of ownership, you should be able to do anything you want. I've sold trucks and transfered plates at a later time to different vehicles. Kinda like you don't have to cancel your plates and registration when you trade your truck in at a dealer.

Then why can't I transfer my title if Irp hasnothing to do with title. DMV keep telling me it has to do IRP . So anyway should I call back the seller and tell them to show transfer of ownership and how should they do that?
