    XDN2's have the rolling resistance of a squared-off block of granite. Why bother if you're going to put that kind of junk on your truck? Blowouts?? I'm guessing you don't check your tire pressure very often...

    I check my tirepressure everytime,only i think my tireblowout was from before 6 month early i have a nail in this tire and i fixed this maybe this was the problem for my tireblowout,iam thinking to put a tirepressuresystem on my supersingles ,only i dont have any idea what brand is the best for this update

    Maybe Xone XDN2's have a lot poorer rolling resistance than say the XDA Energy singles, but they are what I need for where I run. And that rolling resistance "of a squared off block of granite" is not doing me great harm... over 7.6 mpg average on my truck..... calculated, not off of some display. And a 120 rolling resistance is not that terrible, so don't be so dramatic. If all I did was on the highway, it might be different. But the XDA Energy is going to be a hindrance to some of what I do and a waste of money. When I get on soft ground, mud, snow, etc, I need a little more bite than the XDA Energy is going to give me.

    And proper air pressure and tire maintenance is everything. I have never had a blowout on a wide based in the several years I have used them off and on. And doing a several miles of gravel roads each week, I stand a greater risk than most to have one. But never have. I am sure the law of averages will catch up to me some day, but I have yet to see enough evidence that tire problems are any more frequent with wide based as duals. In fact, I believe that there is ample evidence that wide based actually hold up better. I think that has more to do with the fact that drivers running them are more meticulous about monitoring air pressures and doing those daily checks. With duals, many drivers get lazy, maybe "thump" a tire here and there, but hardly ever take an actual gauge to them.

    Then I offer you to run them in my area, off the highway an on my local gravel roads this winter, loaded and unloaded, and see if you still think they have "plenty of bite". Remember, I said there was off highway use involved, including bobtail sometimes. And the roads are not always frozen and have some short, steep grades. A typical closed shoulder tire can load up pretty quickly. But I do have a farm tractor to pull you along if you come out an try and they do not "have enough bite". I won't even charge for the pull, I will just video it and post it on youtube.

    I was talking to a TMC driver last week and I noticed he didn't have singles on his truck..... He said they was going away from them due to cost, downtime, lack of fuel mileage increase and damage they caused when they would blow out. He said almost every time one would blow it would end up taking a brake chamber with it.

    What was funny was a few days later I was listening to KR show and he had an issue with one of his tires. When it blew it caused damage that cost him 4 or 6 hours on the side of the road(I think thats what he said). Then he also stated that singles weren't for fuel mileage...... or somethign to that effect...? Hopefully someone who was paying more attention to that show can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

    Xdn2 is a very good tire,i was driving in snow and never i have a problem with this tire,maybe the RR
    is better for the energymodell only when you drive the small roads the xdn2 is better,this is only me opinion

    Now that there's funny! Been running X-one XDA wide singles. 24/7/365. In the northern tier alot - and even (shudder) in Iowa. Don't seem to have any problems at all, but if I do I'll give ya a call. I wouldn't stay up late waitin' if I were you.

    I heard that on KR too... he was talking about someone doing off-road, heavy haul - 140,000lbs GVW. I don't recall the rest of the conversation though.

    "northern tier" and "shudder" in Iowa doesn't mean much. I drove in Alaska for 10 years and, on highway, even there I might not have a problem with the Energy's, especially when things are frozen. When things are frozen, who cares what tire one is running. But I made is clear that off-highway is a weekly occurance for me, and that the gravel roads are not always frozen. The spring can be an especially challenging time. After you do this same scenario on a weekly basis, then we can compare notes. I have tried closed shoulder tires before and the result was not a pleasant experience. Especially for my wife who had to pull me out with the farm tractor.

    So now, unlike KR and his Fedex trucks, I have solved the problem by running XDN2 and having twin screws with full lockers. Tantamount to treason in KR's book.
