I just have a general question for current drivers at May Trucking.

I keep hearing over and over how Schneider has the best Qualcomm system out right now. Now I'm not saying the company is better but just in random discussions i ease drop on or people bring to my attention that their Qualcomm system is top of the line. So my question is what Qualcomm system or any system does May Trucking use?

This one. I believe it is the MCP100 unit if I remember correctly.

    It's very big and cumbersome...

Also, May does not have the GPS Navigator active on their units. They don't wanna spend the extra money for it from what I've heard.

I have a friend that works for Swift and he said their unit is the size of an oversized GPS unit that is mounted and accessible right on the dash within easy reach, with the GPS Navigator active for the drivers.

He told me that there is an auto feature which connects the Trucker friendly GPS feature directly to the dispatch. Which is pretty sweet if you ask me.

I esp like the one that was in husband's old truck about 4yrs ago at other company. It could be hung out the window in a plastic bag when dispatchers loved to keep being a pest when he was on a 10. It didn't have the navigation either, and it didn't have a shut off for the volume. Don't know if they are anymore sophisticated now or not.

Thanks Scooter, I was trying to find out what some people are talking about but I would have to say Schneiders is nicer because I have seen it in person, when a recuiter came in my class when I was in trucking school to show it off, which was cool to see but I have no idea what made her think by showing it that would make a person mind up by choose their company based on a system.

My Brother in law drives for Schneider, every truck he's been in has the MCP 200. It's like a cell phone that you slide open, with the screen on top and and keyboard on the bottom. Says it's about 6 by 10 before it opens up. Say's the GPS blows, but Schneider has bought software from Rand McNally to correct this. Called my Brother in Law when I when I read this post, he was sitting in his Freightshaker as he described his Qualcomm.

Gps would be nice on qualcomm, but then you would have a bunch of steering wheel holders.who will rely on it instead of professional drivers who trip plan. Then you'd become complacent.just my .02 cents

Any device that will help me I'll take it, I always trip plan ahead of time, write down directions ect, I got the Rand McNally 710, I love it. But I follow routing and directions first, I use the GPS as a suppliment.

I have a gps to, but as an entry level driver new to the industry. More than likely will rely on gps instead of trip planning due to the generation growing up on it. I waited a yr before I bought my gps

Not my problem, what any other driver does is their business, not mine. Guy asked a question about Schneider Qualcomms I answered it. End of story for me.
