Your interpretation is wrong . You can use a cell phone if it has voice command and a speaker phone . The idea of losing your license immediately is ridiculous . http://hni.com/blog/bid/68900/Compliant-Mobile-Telephones-Under-the-New-FMCSA-Restrictions

Crete policy is immediate termination for you using cellphone while driving. Bluetooth or not.

S.O.S. Got big and lost respect for their drivers because when you get big, you end up hiring alot of dead wood to keep your trucks running.
I've never worked for a huge outfit and I never will.

I applied for a job with this company. I received an email saying I didn't qualify. I went to a good school and have no marks on my driving record. Strange company.

Was the school PTDI certified? If not, that would be the reason more than likely.

Crete's "policy" is just that....a policy. I guess if you want to keep your job, stay off the phone.

But the law is the law (aside from any companies policy). CondoCruiser posted the two main stipulations to the LAW.

You can 'answer' a call, and 'hang up' with a caller, as long as you are capable of doing it with one touch of the button (each---answer and disconnect).....AND as long as the phone is within reach while sitting in a normal driving position. And the use has to be either speaker phone or Bluetooth (i.e.- hands free).

I read the law carefully, and signed a form from my company promising to abide by it. That was "our policy"....follow the law, and we can use our phones.
