the way they will know is when you do a trailer swap. the next guy will call saftey and report damage. Its not intended to "rat" the last guy out, but to save your own butt from having to pay for "existing damage" that you didnt cause

they wouldnt. but dont presume he would cop to it if he did. now, if you drop a trailer, and within 24 or so hrs he calls it in, then it falls back on you. if he doesnt call it in, and say I got it next (after him) and i call. It would fall on him. The biggest thing with TMC is just man up if ya make a mistake. Unless its really bad, they wont "burn" ya
What i do is park next to the new trailer, and film it with my phone. Keeping in mind to clearly show it next to the current trailer im ready to drop. this way, if someone after me says i left it damaged I have documented proof that it was fine at time of drop (no yard dog can say a word then). -
