Hi....I just downloaded this app. My phone is a Motorola Droid. The email tracking button to send the number, on the initial shipment setup screen does not work. The send email link does work on the edit shipment screen.
This email feature needs to be able to access the address/contacts on the phone. I read somewhere the update interval is five minutes. In looking at the maps of the test shipments that might be too much info. Adjustable intervals would be a good option (I would likely use 15 - 30 minute intervals, I think), as well as a sleep mode for when you are stopped off duty.
I am looking forward to testing this on the road. BTW...if you log out of the app does it keep sending update info to the server?

Hey Willi, thanks for the feedback. Can you give me some details about the problem you are having with the email tracking button on the initial shipment screen?
- If you click the 'log out' button in the top right corner of the app, it will stop sending info to the server. Otherwise, it will run as a background task.
- Regarding sleep mode, on the Edit Shipment screen you can change the shipment status from 'Tracking' to 'Paused' when you're off duty, which will tell the app to stop sending info, and also changes the status from 'Tracking' to 'Paused' that is displayed on your shipment's tracking page on seeitship.com
Update intervals and contact imports are definitely on the list for future development. -
The email button to send the tracking number, when setting up the shipment, just doesn't work. Tap on it repeatedly and it does nothing. Other items in that screen work okay. The same button in the 'edit shipment' screen works fine.
Also....if you don't have time to run the app when picking up before the doors are closed and sealed to get a picture, taking the picture and then accessing it from within the app when you are back in your truck would be a good idea. Many shippers are unreasonably fussy about cameras on their docks so you have to be quick or sneaky. I do like the picture component of the app.
The possible uses of this app are many. I hope it keeps going. Who is actually developing this and who has charge of the servers this run on? I am concerned with security of the data and access to my phone.
Tx again....BTW, I got word of this through Mark at Rand McNally. I am a beta tester for Mark. -
Also, we just released an update that allows you to custom brand your shipment tracking pages. Go to www.seeitship.com and click in 'Manage your account' in the top right corner, you can replace the See It Ship header with your own company logo and header. Advanced tracking features on a page customized with your branding should make an impression on your shippers.

Yes, I was talking about accessing a photo from the phone's own picture gallery though being able to add it after creating the shipment is ok. Just set up the shipment before loading if necessary then snap pic quickly later.
OK...good to hear this project is in house. If we can't trust each other we're screwed.I imagined there would have to be some way to support this idea so a fee seemed inevitable. I can see myself paying for it down the road when it is fully featured. I did notice the header option on the web site.
I can imagine using it to notify my dispatcher when loaded and rolling as we don't have any kind of electronic tracking....maybe, I might not want to give them that much info! My family would like to be able to see where I am when I get too busy to call. -
Is this still being developed?
-
No, there wasn't enough interest to support further development.

Sorry to hear that. It looked like a nice app

Sorry man i am using black berry.....
