it's not in the desert. it's everywhere.

we got rid of the analog signal few years back. rexception is very hard even in the main cities now with the digital signal.

that's exactly my thinking. but having a tv seems to be on most truckers minds.

and there has been a rare occasion where i'm spending some time sitting somewhere.

like the load that can't come off becuase of high winds. for example.

Response to the interesting comments here:
Regarding watching TV on the road: There are 2 schools of thought here. One is run as many miles as legally possible and watch TV at home. I used to do that, but after 35 years and 3.5 million miles, I have become a professional tourist, and that includes taking time to "smell the roses". About 90K miles a year is average, which leaves me time to visit places, sometimes for several days at a time, ride my bike, play my keyboard, and watch TV. To each his own.

Regarding how to watch TV. Had an old tube style TV/VHS combo until about a year ago. Analog signals were ok with built in antenna in roof of Freightliner Argosy(same as any Freightliner sleeper). New Toshiba flat screen picking up digital signals is a lot more finicky. Example: Petro in Dupont PA(Scranton). 5 miles from the TV station antenna, had to park in about 3 different places to get all the channels available in that market. Even then if a truck drove by the signal went haywire for 60 seconds. I have a signal booster on it, but results vary widely. Many of you have the same problems.

Regarding Satellite TV: I just purchased a V10 Vuqube from Amazon. This is a model built in Minneapolis MN by King Industries specifically for truck use. I intend to use Direct TV, which I have had in my home in the past. I intend to pay for the service by slowing down on one or two trips a month, saving the needed $ 60-70 in fuel to pay for the satellite fees. If I don't like it, I will sell it on Ebay. Stay tuned as they say...

You probably already know this but maybe someone out there doesn't. You can't watch HD with the Vuqube with Directv. You CAN watch HD with dish network on the Vuqube.

I mounted an antenna up under the top lip of the fairing.
On I-75 in the rest area near Tampa last night i was pulling in 54 channels.
I just watch about 30 minutes or so to relax while i heat up some dinner then lights out.

I have a 2 way switch to change from the trucks antenna and the roof mount.....I usually can get the local networks anyway.

I have dish in my truck and get the network channels from NY and San Franscio thru a company called Distant networks.
