Being in Middletown will be a pretty good asset. That whole area is full of trucking companies and warehouses. Go knock on some doors, even if the company says they don't train, you might get lucky. I was leased to a regional company in Mechanicsburg that would take on trainees occasionally. They were across the street from Purina on Brackbill. You'll hear no quite often, but you might get a yes if you're presentable. Of course, those tickets are going to hurt you big time. You'll find a local/regional gig in the Harrisburg area if you're persistent enough.
hoping to clear up contradicting info

only place I know of where you can get help with a CDL is the oilfield, start out as a roughneck, get your CDL learners the drivers will help you with the necessary learning and the company will let you use one of the trucks for your test.

Also, check the Careerlink office in your area, I know I keep harping on it, but they are a great source for who is hiring in the area. -
Con-way freight has an apprentice program its their own truck driving school you do have to stay a year you go to school four hours a day then work the dock. Once you graduate you become a driver art Conway after you finish your driving route you do work the dock but atleast your home everyday and you will make very good money.
