Werner is one of the worst companies I have ever worked for in my life. Werner is a criminal organization and, in fact, Werner, is currently in litigation as of August 28, 2012, for illegal pay practices of their drivers.

I, also, attended a very good school when initially acquiring my CDL-A. I completed in the top 97 percentile of my training at Werner and worked for Werner less than 9 months. Werner's Fleet Managers (FM) and Dispatchers were coercive and (to say the very least) did not pay me for the loads I delivered...(I delivered the loads within the correct reported time and date and location).

This forum locked my thread "Werner compared to C.R. England." I think you can still read parts of it....although the proctors of this forum did not appreciate my perspective and withdrew some of my statements....my statements are all factual.

    Stay away from Werner.

You may not realize this now, but Werner actually did you a huge favor. Like someone else suggested, call Schneider, and don't volunteer any more information than needed. You made it thru school, impressed a state tester, got your license, no reason why you couldn't benefit some company. Call Schneider (great with new drivers) Good Luck.

I was Air Force Academy class of 79. I got my astronaut rating in an SR-71. You have to fly over 100,000 feet to get the qualifaction. Werner did not recurit me. Non of the bottom feeders did. I took my degree in Nuclear Engineering and my PhD in Physics to a company that did. The man who hired me was from Colorado Springs and as soon as I mentioned the Academy, he hire me. I did not even get a road test. 45 cents a mile. 2500 miles on week and 3000 miles the next. Garanteed. Of course, I had no idea how to drive a truck, I had just gotten my license. The other drivers at the company helped me figure it all out. I ran over every tree and sign the company had. But I didn't kill anyone.

I am not sure if the American's with Disablity Act would cover you but I would look into it. I do not see how shyness could possibly be a problem with driving a truck. What do they think you will not pull through an intersection with someone looking at you? It might be a problem in New York City traffic but everywhere else you would be fine. Trucking is full of people who are a bit different. I love to drive at night and let my mind work on problems of time and such. Circle theory and the like.

Don't give up. Find a company that can see you for what you have to offer. You are you, you are not a disease.

    Hold on thar Brsims,
    Wait a minute.
That ain't the rest of the story, --- it's just an intermission so we can go to the bar for a snack. The stereotypical story about Werner's short-sighted vision isn't over yet. Actually, at this point the story has no satisfactory ending. The Werner encounter is just the tip of the ice cube, as I'm sure this same story is played out in many places, many times to too many good people. Although, in Werner's case, the powers that be aren't so much mean-spirited as they are ignorant, --- and ignorance is a good excuse, ..... if one has a good excuse for bein' ignorant. In this day and age of computers, remaining ignorant requires more effort than it did back in the day. But God blessed us with free will. That makes ignorance a choice. Question might be, is ignorance bliss?
And they think Asperger's is a handicap?
    Go figure.

    HeY!
    We're talkin' 'bout Werner here.
Bein' at the bottom of the barrel it would be naturally assumed that an applicant had been kicked outta better Big truck truckin' companies than Werner before. An applicant would find it difficult to find a company much lower than Werner. That spot is reserved for the Sons-0-Chester, ..... who fall a lot. Their reasoning is that when you're a low-life and fall, the only way to go is up, so they work hard to remain on the bottom. Obviously their "work ethics" provide the means required to remain where they deserve to be.

That sounds like something a recruiter would tell you. One thing I can tell you about recruiters is that they could sell porn to a nun. An easy way to tell if a recruiter is lying to you is when their lips are moving as they speak. Masters of deception, --- deluxe edition. Their motto?
    No Shame, --- No Gain.
Ever notice how recruiters can run their mouth for hours on end and never even break a sweat? Tell me their jaw muscles aren't in peak condition. Their arm muscles are pretty buffed as well, --- quite useful when throwin' a wannaBee under the bus.

Drvrtech, Pilottravel and Danmissouri are correct Remousamavi, --- Werner did you a favor when they rejected you. Chances are good that you wouldn't have been pleased with what they have to offer. There are much better companies out there and I would encourage you to let them know that you're available and interested.

A lesser person than yourself would probably have been tempted to tell 'em where to go and what to do when they got there. You showed remarkable restraint by refraining from repeating what they've probably heard hundreds of times before. I'm floored by the audaciousness of two-bit hucksters pitching a slime-ball, bottom feedin' company who think they're up to the task of bein' guidance councilors qualified to suggest where you should start.
I'm thinkin' becomin' a priest would be their first suggestion.
Heaven knows their need for confession.
And with their ability to run their mouth non-stop for hours, confession could easily go into overtime.

For the record Remousamavi, --- for what it's worth, --- I'm very impressed by your bravery and refusal to accept anything less than you deserve. My hope is that you'll continue to read and post your thoughts, ideas and encounters here at The Trucker's Report. There are a lot of fine folks here to offer advice, suggestions and moral support. I don't know how things will eventually turn out, but it's possible that you can pave the way to a better tomorrow for yourself as well as other "Aspers" who know all too well what it's like to hit a block wall that won't budge in t
heir preconceived notions, or surrender their ignorance through education.

Big question is, should you be allowed to drive a Big truck. At this time, I don't know the correct answer, and, until you're given a chance to demonstrate your abilities, you can't know with certainty either. There's more to driving a Big truck then meets the eye. Folks here will be able to describe what's below the water line, unseen. In fact, they already have for others who've asked. Those comments can be located in the archives, --- or you can start the conversation by starting a thread on whatever topic comes to mind.
If worse comes to worse and all else fails, ---- who knows?, ......... perhaps, by then, TTR will see a need for a resident "Occupational Therapist" to guide and direct those who don't know what they wanna be when they grow up, --- should that happen to occur in the near future.

    :biggrin_25525:
Whatever you decide to do I wish you the best of success.
    Sincerely.

Remousamavi, i completely understand what your talking about regarding your Asperger's and your outward appearance. Most of these truckers are to ignorant to comprehend what you are talking about, so don't let them discourage you. I have a 20 year old son with Asperger's so been through it all, and understand your struggles.

The best advice i can give you is keep trying to get hired, you will find something that works for you through persistence. Don't reveal your Asperger diagnosis, unless you have to.

If you have to reveal it, sell them on the fact that it won't hold you back, and that because you have it, you are more inclined to perform better than those with out it.

Good Luck! I'm rooting for you.

    Okay, I tried.
I mean I really tried hard, .......................... not to go off subject.
But, within a few more sentences, I'm gonna fail.
    No doubt about it.
I'm into bird watchin' and the Blackbird is one of my favorite birds to watch.
At least they were when they were still flown.
    MaN-0-MaN!

I'd slide down razor blades into a vat of alcohol for a ride in the back seat, .... if they had a back seat.
    (I think one does).

Wooly, is there any chance that you could be convinced to start a thread about your adventure in the fastest airplane known to exist? I promise to read every word you use to describe what it feels like to fly at the edge of space at around 2,000 feet per second, --- which is faster than some bullets, (about twice as fast as a 230 grain .45 ACP).
    I'm in awe.

Been my experience to talk and BS as little as possible, and you'll get along just fine. Sounds to me like you rubbed someone the wrong way in the hiring process - or blatant discrimination. Many drivers are loners - some are downright anti social, all kinds out there.
