With little to no experience you're better off at 65 or slower. Blowing tires and other emergencies Carr amplified at higher speeds. I drive an ungoverned truck and still won't ever exceed 75. There's no need for it

Quality Carriers has e-logs and they know the speed every truck is doing every minute it is moving . Drivers get notified what percentage of their driving was over 65 mph and what their speeds were .

I do the same run everyday 500 mile turnaround around nyc area. leave and return to the same yard. ive used a few trucks a few times that ran diffirent speeds. if i was stuck on 65 mph all day i could do this in 11 hours at best. when i had the 75 truck i could do it in 10.45 at best but thats only if everything went perfectly, and it hardly ever does. the faster truck takes a lot of stressful situations completey off the table tho day in and day out. honeslty with your truck at 65 mph you cant even do 65 because you are always slowing down for even slower drivers because you cant safely pass them.and it happens 100 times a day. i know the prostars have a function where u can disable the speed limiter for a set amount of miles, dependant on how its programmed into the ecu. get to top speed. let off fuel pedal then press to floor again, let off, then press down again. wait a second and then your truck will pop a override message on the tach and you can go faster to make a pass. i use it all the time and sometimes i find myself just staying with the faster speed for miles on end untill it expires. then u have to wait a certain amount of hours before it resets itself.usually 10 hours. the truck i used was set at 65. did the overirde and i got 75 out of it for 30 miles. 30 miles is good enuff for 30-50 passes if you used it the way it was intended. all in all i hate driving a 65mph truck. more ### in the seat time when i could be done already. I complain when slow drivers dont move from the middle lane but then after driving a slow truck I understand why they dont move.. a slow truck in the right lane has to constantly keep breaking or moving over to try and pass. its tiring. so after awhile u give up caring and just sit in the middle lane.

and from a mpg perspective i know when im running the truck higher like 70-75 thru conneticut and jersey my mpg are around 5.6 oppose to 6.3 doing 65 all day. in the end prolly only save 10 minutes. but just being able to pass someone and know u can anytime u want eliminates a lot of mental stress. funny part is when i know i can do 75 all day i find myself doing 65-68 most of the time. when im stuck at 65 i dont want to do any slower and i drive more agressive to keep my speed up.

Might have been said already but IMHO NO rookie should have a wide open truck.. you need to learn how to properly drive your truck in a safe manner.. honestly wide open trucks are a thing of the past. . i have one, but dont use it. My truck has the power and gearing to run triples... dont mean i need to do it.. fuel costs to #### much to be running wild like that these days. Not to mention the highways are to crowded these days to be running like a fool out in the roads.
