with one of the mega carriers?
On paper I look great! However what will the mega carriers think? Too much of a risk? Give 'em chance? Sorry Charlie?
Is there anything I can do to eliminate any doubts they may have?

do you have your dot medical card already?
get that then go from there , a a-ok letter from your heart doc will help , they may even give you a stress test, after the 3 stents are gone and heart wise your well. heck man i got a new heart valve 6yrs ago and they approved me . two days ago ,Last edited: Sep 5, 2012
SatelliteSender Thanks this. -
Did you have a myocardial infraction or just blockage removed? Are you taking Coumadin, Plavix or Effient (Prasugrel)?
You'll probably have to get a letter from your cardiologist saying you're stable after a ECG.
ghettochild Thanks this. -
Coumadin is a medical treatment which can improve the health and safety of the driver and should not, by its use, medically disqualify the commercial driver.
thats a good thing ,since i take it -
There are plenty of drivers out there with stents and/or a cracked chest. They just want to make sure you are stable first.
I read somewhere about waiting periods for recent surgeries. It's like a month for a stent and 6 months for bypass surgery. I'm too tired to find it now!ticktick45acp Thanks this. -
I have my follow-up tomorrow with my cardiologist. (Never thought I would say that)
I will find out if they were able to determine how much damage was done and what my outlook is.
As for meds..... Dr. prescribed Plavix and I will be on it for only a year. No Coumadin. He told me he prescribes
that for his patients that are 70+ yrs. old. -

My blood pressure last week was 188/107 ARRRRRRG!!! I'm 56, 200lbs, 6' 0". Talk about an eye opener! So I got med from the doc and now it's down to 144/90. I'm waiting for it to go down below 139/90 in order to have my CDL reinstated when I take the DOT test.
Been sitting behind a desk to long -
I had a heartattack on the road myself..1 stent and takin 5 different meds..you might wanna keep an eye on your blood sugar.found out 3mos after heartattack that I had diabetes..high bloodpressure diabetes and heartattacks run in packs so ask doc for ur sugar levels. Anything over 150mg will disqualify you..good luck
CondoCruiser and Cobra67y20 Thank this.
