Thanks, but you didn't answer my question completely. Do you live in your truck on the road? Do you have a home you are paying on with the normal monthly expenses like power, gas, etc?
-
Yes, I have a place to live. But as an over the raod trucker.. I'm on the road 3 weeks at a time.

I have no problem with people who want to be an O/O. I just object to the notion that you are making a lot of money, although, a lot of money means different things to different people.
You yourself said you grossed 65k after expenses (before income taxes). I'm assuming you mean line 31 on your 1040 tax return if you are operating as a sole proprietor? If that's the case, you are just buying yourself a decent job without benefits. If you're happy with that, that's cool.
However, my gross is about the same, plus I have many company benefits (I don't work for May) that would cost me at least $10,000 a year to provide if I had to do it myself. So, for me, being an O/O isn't all that, especially when you consider the responsibility and liability.
End of rant...
Rogerthat Thanks this. -
I didnt say I grossed 65K ..lol
-
Oh, sorry about that, Paloma. I thought the quote from Joker was about you. My bad. I'm sure you netted way more than 65k last year, right?
-
How much income I generate is my business. But will say that it is common sence that a person that runs a succesfull business does better that the person working for him! Those Owner/Ops that are not doing well are not business minded.
-
Interesting point. To further try and understand my original question, do you bobtail sometimes? How often and how far?
-
The reason I ask is that Truckersreport own graphics chart claims that an O/O has to gross about $135,000 just to make a decent wage. But of course, at the end of the day it's what you net after taxes that matters...

There are times that I may Bobtail .. but I still get paid all miles with fuel Sur Charge .. Loaded, Deadhead and Bobtail.Rogerthat Thanks this.
