Our instructors taught us about stale greens and the point-of-no-return, as well. And when we were pulled over by a cop for 4 bald tires yesterday, I asked him about it. he said, "Yup. I'd rather see you run that blazing orange and get honked at, than lock up your wheels and jack-knife into the other 3 lanes of traffic, where you're likely to take someone's head off, if you hit them right. But you can bet your last donut, I'll be judging your speed, weight and distance when you do it."
I actually LOL'd at the donut comment, and he just smiled at me. And yeah, we were placed OOS. Fun times...![]()

Yeah, I asked about this the other day (on YouTube) to Jerry on his channel "Big Rig Talk" ...........When you pick up a pre-loaded trailer, Do you pre-trip the trailer? and if you find any safety issues, like bad tires or or less than 1/4 " of brakeing material.

Your issue running dry box is your going to run into pre-loaded trailers with bald tires, flat tires, brakes out of adjustment, air leaks, you name it.
Only thing you can do is get it fixed.
(aero trucks are dumb!!!!!! Just saying)
Oh and by the way, not all low clearance are marked. There are plenty of bridges not marked. Most of are well above 13' 6" but never trust something you don't know.Pirate Trucker XOXX and Bigdubber Thank this. -
See Lantern, Here you are again trying to sway me towards those flat beds........I'm just not sure that's for me, Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I can't or won't switch to flat bed, I'm just not sure.
Thanks, Pirate Trucker XOXX -
It's not for every one. Hard work, but it is extremely rewarding. Our customers are alot different then dry boxes. We go to places who don't get 90 trucks a day. So the customers show us more respect. Now not every customer does but a large majority.
I ran dry box so I know what it's like at alot of the customers. Some are just so nasty to you, they are tough when they are behind that window. Flatbed customers they come out to your truck alot of the times.
Idk hard to explain I just enjoy it more. It is miserable when it's 110 outside but that is what I signed up for.Pirate Trucker XOXX Thanks this. -
Are the miles better? Iknow the cents/mile are, so i guess the people, and the enviroment is what made you want switch to flatbeds.

My last pay check was 3700 miles. Two trips.
Never got miles like that in van. Never. My miles for flatbed have been in surplus. Only issues I've had would be like right now. I've been sitting since 3pm yesterday, I'm in Jackson MS. I'm suppose to be going home so that is why they are having me sit. They are looking for a load. Well... Higher paying load? I checked the load board and there are like 15 loads going to FL. 3 going into Jacksonville fl. And yes flatbed loads.Pirate Trucker XOXX and Bigdubber Thank this. -
I guess I'll look into it, a little more, you've almost talked me over the fence. I am wanting to get all the miles I can, Compaired to what other tasks at other jobs would you say is epually as difficult as tarping a full trailer 6' high load. I've never done it, but I have worked in construction for 20 years......... Explain please.

Well, for some reason I had no rights to do anything as jasonb so I re-registered.
I went through Roehl's training back in the winter of '07. Cold man! But fun.
