Well since JJ closed his. I will start a new one.
Same old rules apply...
What were the rules do I need to know something to be here? -
Just wondering if there,s anyone here I still no and I didn't know JJ had rules back then. I'll ask him
-
Rules be nice. Miles are accurate. Your first couple months will stink, but after that 3000/wk is not that hard to get.

I realize, as a recruiter, I mean trainer, its in your best interest to help keep the flow of new recruits coming in. But come on Moose, be more realistic. -
That's kind of crazy! They sent you home because you knocked the ladder over?! What the hell is that?! I'm pretty level headed but I would have knocked the instructor over after the ladder if they told me I had to go home over that! Everyone makes mistakes and I am sure you were a little nervous so knocking the ladder over should have just been brushed off. Are you sure there wasn't another reason as to why they sent you home?
petey, the longer you stay out the better of an average you will have. So if you have a really bad week (which will happen) it will take two really good weeks to bring your average back up. If you are planning on going home every two weeks (which I am not sure they will let you do) dispatch will keep you close to home so it won't be a pain in their butt getting you home all the time. Keeping you close to home will result in very little miles and in their eyes they will view it as you don't want to work. When you do get loads you will most likely be picking up and delivering everyone else's loads. Therefore just eating up your hours in your log "on duty". I would expect you would be running well under 1500 a week on this plan. So at best your looking at $420 before taxes a week. You could make that handing out smiley face stickers at Walmart and be home every night!
Central is an over the road company and they send their drivers all over the place. The opportunity to make really good money is there but you have to be willing to stay out for long periods of time and you also really need to hustle and be proactive for yourself. If home time is a concern at all I would seriously reconsider and maybe do something else. If you think you can do this with out worrying about home time then go for it. Don't mention to Central anything about home time. This automatically puts you in the "doesn't want to work" category. Its kind of like going to any other job interview and the first thing you ask is when is my vacation!
About Time and dptrucker Thank this. -
Hey Passion, though it worked for you and that is great, I highly recommend no one else try that. Technically that isn't really how you run a business and if you practice good business skills you will be successful. Not bashing you man, I am totally happy for you, I just hope other newbies don't read that thinking they can jump in a new truck and make money blindly. 99% of the time this results in failure.
I have owned many business of which some failed and others were very successful. The ones that failed were the ones I didn't write a business plan or didn't follow through with the plan and just got all willy-nilly and wondered through it blindly. Running a biz is all about the numbers. You start out with a set a proven statistics and numbers and make that your guide for your plan. Your goals are to follow that plan and over shoot the figures, while constantly improving. Another "must have" with your business plan is a well written exit strategy. Actually most financial backers will also require this. This is pretty much self explanatory. When the ##### hits the fan though its a good thing to have a way out!About Time Thanks this. -
Well everyone, I thank you very much for your insight into Central Refrigerated, but because I have a no fault accident that's less than 3 years old, I was told I would have to wait to come over to Central. Only company that I could find to take me in right now in, um, C.R. England (cough cough). I know it's a major B.F.I. but I gotta start somewhere I guess.... Hopefully I'll see you guy out on the road, good luck and travel safe.
