I briefly expressed my opinion, so did you Mr Northeast!
I get it, some people are just sold out in one direction no matter what! We're all etiteled to our own oppinion, i'd like to think so, but who knows what tomorrow will bring?
In n'our days it only takes for one certain group to be "offended", and that's it........the thought police cometh!
I wish you all the relaxation in the world waxing.........the bonnet and whatever else you want!
Peace! -
I've read before how you guys have trouble with warranties, I wasn't surprised after I had my experiences with DAF/PACAAR , the only other brands Ive bought are Volvo and Scania and they are just brilliant, never any problems getting them to stand over warranties, in fact for example I had a couple of unit injectors go bad in a 6 yr old Scania, they are 1000 each but no problem, they were put on the warranty of a newer truck, that wasn't the only occasion, I've gotten starters, alternators and a compressor this way, another thing is the truck is never off the road more than 24hrs, if it is they will supply you with another one until your own is fixed. Also if they don't have the part in stock it will brought from the importers that day or be flown from Sweden overnight. This kind of backup is essential when owning a truck, DAF nearly broke me, I don't know how you guys put up with it

really cabovers got some blind spots. For example sometimes you cant see biker in front of your bumper.
ok, why all EU trucks are of COE design now? the answer is simple - railway lobby in Eurocomission. They resist changing lenth and weight laws. And I sugest when they release lenth limits a half of EU trucks be conventionals. -
Pablo, except for North America the conventional has died.
Look at Brazil, they can still run them but no brand is willing to build them.
Even Scania, which weren't real conventionals but COE with at hood, does make that cheap model anymore.(cheap in design not in purchase price)
At Scaniaman...........;;stop being a PITA.
We had Scania's ,worst trucks we ever owned.
The Renaults that replaced them were 10 times better.
Yes Renaults that were cheaper to run and maintain then those stupid overpriced Scania's.(Scaniaman doesn't tell the full story, for a Scania you will pay 25000$ more then for a similiar model cab and horsepower from another brand)
Do you see me all over the net complaining about the same thing over and over?
ps that nice Scania Longline, you cannot use it on regural work as it is to heavy. -
$25,000 more expensive than a similar model?? how would they compete? Don't be silly, currently DAF are the most expensive here, a 480 DAF is €5500 more expensive than an equivalent Scania and combine that with the complete lack of a backup service and what have you got?? Not to mention you will absolutely need a warranty cos they just dont last, what mileage did u get the engine done in yours? 200,000kms wasn't it? That should get you through the warranty period. Do u think that's acceptable? Oh sure it was a fault in them and they fixed it but mine were new in 2003 and they had the same problems back then and are still having the same problems now, Sheamus Nolan of Nolan transport in Ireland is a friend of mine, they buy them because of the deal they get from DAF to buy them in bulk but he will openly tell you that they will break a small haulier, they have their own garage with spare engines supplied from DAF as part of their deal, they remind me of old Bedford tk's where you always need spare engines on standby.
Right now the best value for money truck is the Volvo and if I were buying new trucks for general haulage they would be Volvo , they are very reliable, cheap to run , great build quality and a great backup service, those scum in DAF shouldn't be allowed to get away with the service they gave to alot of small haulers in this country, almost €17000 is what those pos cost me in the first year while 'under warranty' I've had over 30 scanias of my own over the years and never once was one towed due to a breakdown, I sold the volvos with 1m each on the clock and never spent a penny on them, the last truck I owned was a 2007 r580, worked it hard, sold it with 800,000 on the clock, spent nothing on it except for a set of cab bushings, currently I'm driving a 2007 r620 on heavy haulage (up to 150 tonnes) there's 545,000 on it and never had any work except manifold gaskets, I've never replaced an engine or had one rebuilt in either Scania or Volvo and they were worked hard, the DAFs on the other hand were pulling dry boxes to the UK and Holland , hardly hard work and yet the engine had to be done at 230,000 and the second at 540,000 and with no warranty to back them up I'd say I'm a little upset about them, sofukuLast edited: Sep 7, 2012

this year is really interesting here is new refreshed version of xf

as for choice of trucks here
-man ,1st in salles not that good truck, falling apart on our roads , have problems during winter, have electrical problems, always is something wrong about them , but excellent services their service is only on european standard and many people buy it just because of service and people in man also because of that it is easy to sale but not hold price good aftermarket and used parts are cheap , everyone can work on them
-volvo sedond in salles currently offer some crazy low prices of fully equipped trucks , excellent quality , good resale value but it is problem to have it if truck get old and high millage because of expensive parts
-scania is dream of most drivers and operators ,very good quality except some things , have chassis rust problems especially from nl air leak problems, hold its price excelent but parts are expensive and it is smart to sale truck after 4-5year same as volvo
-mercedes best for owner , it is not that expensive (old model) hold its price good , it is good quality , good fuel economy , it is not expensive to repair , parts available everywhere(cheap) everyone can work on them , very easy to sale
-iveco cheap truck but it makes money somehow
-daf is very comfortable truck, drivers cab, i cant even see reason for largest cab sc is more than enough , but only one service in country which cant repair many things , only operators who drive on west chose it , did shown many engine problems
-we dont consider renault as truck since it is crap, parts are unreasonable expensive , i am not sure which renault model is more crap they sale only about 10trucks per year , it is not possible to sale truck as used
EDIT only old for new
renault premium 460 with all equipment you need cost you here 1075€ on 60 months and 5% participation this include all expenses for leasing and they will pay you 10% after 5year for it
magnum 480 with plenty of stuff 1170€ on 60 months
i think premium without credit is 54000 and magnum below 59000€
and still no body wants itLast edited: Sep 7, 2012
