Finally got the truck out of KW. Only cost me $380. Alignment need adjust the toe again, and $98 to adjust the air ride, and nothing to adjust the door. Fixed the dome light issue. Put in a new LED dome light fixture, no charge. It was a recall and warranty issue. Now sitting here watching the weather, and the dust storms. have a pplan aleady, costco goint to N. Las Vegas. I took it just to get out, and I know that I can get something outta there in morning on Saturday.

I have been back and forth to and from Denver for the past couple weeks.

    Now in Colby, KS.

A fun day of trying to hunt up an mt for my load of potatoes back to Toledo KS.
Lucky me, I'll have a trailer full of dirt to sweep out.

Ended up 2.5 hours late for pick up, but because there is a lot of time on this load I'll still deliver on-time.

A better part of the story is that when I got there I was loaded up quickly, and on my way.

20 miles of dirt road both ways getting to and from the shipper.
And the Swifty I talked to on the way in was on the side of the road with a flat tire as I was heading out.

Frank ... don't worry about the FSC on your fuel cost ... account for it on the revenue side of the ledger. the key is to look for states with a low fuel price with a high IFTA ... IL is the best example here. Sstay away from buying in states with low, IFTA high price ... GA is the best example here ... NE fuel prices are generally about as high as CA, but you don't get the FSC bump - try to buy enough fuel to get in and out of the NE when you take trip there ... your contract should have had IFTA charge by state, I took mine out and it folded up nicely to where I could put it in my fuel book.

Last never, never buy fuel in OR, they do not have IFTA, so your pouring $$ down hole buying in that state. Also just avoid going into or through OR as much as possible. You will be charged $.16 per mile of the privilage of driving on their roads.

Last start looking to the mom and pop independents for your fuel ... example fuel at the majors in CA today is in the $4.42 -$4.54 range .. Lathrop was $4.33 ... E/Z Stop in Fresno $4.32.

I've run those Costco loads Tolleson to lost wages a few times. They are too heavy to scale out for CA so we're required to go up 93 out of Phoenix to Kingman to Vegas. A lot of hill climbing, low mpg, but good road.

Pittston, IN picking up a 20k load going to VA. Stopped in Columbus yesterday so the shop db could put the decals on the truck crooked, not fix my qc and tell me it would be two days to look at the clutch problem. When the 30 days are up this truck will never see a Swift "shop" again.

I'm fueling enough to get to WV then enough to finish the load. I can't see carrying a lot of extra fuel which equals dead weight on the tires I have to pay for. Btw, I got 8.8mpg on the load from NJ, far and away the best ever.

Prob not, but I imagine A21 is going to swift shop cause the first 30 days are covered because of being in a recent lease... Which means swift will fix it free of charge.

O/Os use the same pay week (Thurs-Wed) that co drivers do. The fuel follows the load. When you MT out your load will depend on when you get charged for the fuel you purchase.

Example: I picked up a load in El Paso on a Monday that didn't delver til Thursday. Even though I filled my truck in El Paso on Monday I wasn't chargd for it til the following week's settlement.

I almost never fill my truck past the first load of the week UNLESS said load will use almost all it. I filled my truck yesterday in the middle of an 860 mile load. I reached my receiver today (Friday) with 1/2 tank AND a 1480 mile load that picks up yet today. I will top off about 200 miles from here and probably splash in another 50 gallons in towards the end to make sure I have enough to deliver AND bobtail home. Since I KNOW that the 2nd load is my last for the week I do not want to buy any more fuel than necessary to do the job.

I hope this all makes sense.
