I applied to GTI a couple days ago and they called me this morning saying that I put the wrong ss# on my app. and they will call me back later after I gave them the proper number (i did goof up 1 number, fat fingers)? Haven't heard back from them yet (3:45 pm cnt.). So I figured I would ask some questions about this company while I have some time. Do they only do orientation out of Washington state? I applied for a job in Elgin Illinois according to Indeed.com? Why does the add say Elgin if they are out of Washington? If I'm hired out of Illinois will I see any home time? I don't mind the west coast, but how often would I get to Chicago area? Does anyone know if they have a pet policy? I have a dog (second son) I would like to take with me once I get in a truck. Thanks in advance!![]()
Applied and waiting for a call.

Instead of waiting for them to call you, maybe you should call them on Monday and find out if they got the corrected information. You can also go to the GTI website and chat with a recruiter online too. Maybe someone else can chime in with an answer on the pet policy.
Jbkrash Thanks this. -
Welcome to the boards jbk! Keep us (and I mean me, ha) posted on the development. Be nice to hear how they handle us Chicago people. But to your question: I know many people who call to follow-up; take the initiative and keep on them! Good luck!!

I'll keep you informed Scotty, I'll take Mama's advice and call them myself on Monday morning. No sense in sitting around waiting for them to call me. I have several companies in mind and have been procrastinating on them all. I've been out of the application process a long time and I guess I feel they should be calling me if they want me. With as many folks looking for work though I guess I need to keep my name in their minds and get the ball rolling. Thanks for the input have a great weekend!

Being new myself all I can really offer up is what I have learned from studying this forum and what I picked up at orientation. There is also some helpful information at gordontrucking.com.
As long as you meet the requirements and have a verifiable record you should be good to go. Call backs can take time because they are checking you out, when you do hear back it should be an offer to attend orientation. Job offers are made during orientation after your DOT physical and drug screens (urine, hair follicle). Orientation is 3.5 to 4 very long days so be prepared.
Orientation for you could be at the Indianapolis or Green Bay terminals but they very well could have you come to WA. You are more than likely going to be part of the midwest fleet which from what I understand primarily services the operating area east of Denver. Does this mean you will never see the west coast, its hard to say but if you do I would imagine they would route you back to your primary operating area for home time.
Yes Gordon has a pet policy its no pets. -
I'm the significant other to jbkrash and we are planning on teaming once I get licensed. We are looking for a company that will take us as a team, but hire jbkrash on first. Dog must be a part of our new venture!

Sorry to be the turd in your punch bowl. More and more of the larger carriers are doing away with thier pet policies because of the actions of a few irresponsible pet owners.
With tunover the way it is in this industry its hard to get a driver to take a truck that was previously operated by one of those irresponsible pet owners. Also I think there is a distracted driving issue for some carriers. Like alot of other good things in life it only takes a few to screw it up for everyone. -
It seems, however, some companies allow, but with a deposit. That is fine for us. It's just finding that company!

I know Wel company is looking for Team drivers in your area, and they allow pets. I know they are located in Green Bay, WI. My husband just started with them, but I see a lot of job postings for team drivers in your area.
There was a lease purchase driver taking his 10 off up there, and his girlfriend went through truck driving school, and got hired on there. I think that after she is finished training that they were going to go team.Bktrkrwannabe Thanks this.
