10 meter ???????????????

Some of the reason for people buying them is because of an all in one package. Alot of companies don't allow extra wiring in trucks or the drivers have to be switching trucks often. Moving amps, radios, jumper coax, extra power wires, is a pain.

My connex 4600 turbo does more then I actually need and it does it in one simple package. 50+ watts average with 200+ watts pep. I can talk skip with it, I can talk out way farther then needed since most of the guys I talk with can't reach me from 20+ miles away. But hey they can hear me loud and clear like I am sitting next to them.

I used to run an external amp but it brought too much attention from people that I did not want the attention from and moving to another truck was a pain. It was much simpler to just have the single radio to pull down if I had to jump in another truck for awhile.

 

That is one good advantage of the Exports...I myself have never had a problem with needing a "all-n-one" radio since I don't work for anyone but myself, I can do pretty much as I please...

But I have bought my share of export radios for one reason or another. Usually looking for a loud radio with better receive than whatever I'm running at the time...Usually in my case I always come back to something like the Cobra 29LX or Galaxy 919's because they work best with my Amp set-up's...

But like you said, if your switching trucks, or your company has a problem with Amp's, then the Exports are the way to go...

 

NO the receiver is not dependent on power

 

You would not be able to tell the difference between the two most likely. I own/use export radios, but in all honesty, the Cobra/Uniden radios are of higher quality (I am told) than the export type. I do own a couple CBs, just don't use them anymore.

 

Some radios do have better receive than others...But when it comes to receiving signal, you need to focus more on your antenna than the radio...

The Cobra 29 has one of the best "Audio's" out there...one reason why so many guys use 29's in Key-Down events...very seldom will you see these guys running Export radios...You just need to put a little fire-n-the wire behind it...

 

I bought a Stryker SR-447HPC a couple years ago, I'd like to figure out how to find a broadcasting station to listen to, get an idea if I want my FCC license and explore or just keep it on cb mode. I'm still trying to figure out all the channels and dials lol

 

This is a AM/FM radio so what you can hear is limited ....

10 Meter FM ....... calling frequency is 29.600 mhz also know as SIMPLEX since it is station to station ....

10 meter FM repeaters are on ...... 29.620, 29.640, 29.660 and 29.680 mhz

There is SOME AM on 29.010 - 29.150 mhz

 

Ask yourself this....do you like to have friendly chats with people over the airwaves but find CB to be boring or just a bunch of idiots? Or maybe you get tired of the noise and has and people keying up over you to prove their radio is bigger than yours?

If you answered yes, then look into your amateur radio license. Then you can put your amateur radio in your truck on the long trips and have real conversations, and just keep the CB for the load docks, road conditions and such.
