Do you you like the red and blue "coiled" air lines(tractor to trailer), or the black rubber(straight)lines? And why?

Black rubber. Easy to repair, less chance of shattering in extreme cold and they don't get all bunched up.

Rubber ones only, up here the coiled ones just crack in the cold.

Coiled. they seem to stay out of the way better. Also, I've hauled trailers in -40 temps and never had one crack in the cold. Not saying they don't but I've never had one do this to me. I'd think this would be reserved for old lines where the plastic became brittle.

I have busted too many plastic coiled ones so I switched to rubber and haven't had any more problems.

    SHC Thanks this.

Flexon make some real nice ones that are bonded together like welding hose, then covered with a skin about as thick as the line its self. Can't tangle because its basically one hose. Putting hose savers on all but stops cold cracking. 9 out of 10 times it cracks in side the spring at right at the end of the insert.. I keep the brass to repair the plastic lines . That all said this truck has rubber lines. Just remember to unhook them!!! We had a switcher forget with the rubber lines! The gladhand came through the back glass and out the windshield! Few inches to the left probably would been fatal?

Ditto! Less cracking, chafing, kinking, etc. Not sure y we they make the other ones. With the rubber ones you are less likely to pull one off in a tight turn. We have a pretty big gap between trailer and back of cab so rubber is necessary.

I have handles on my glad hands so the lines don't break under the spring. I guess I'm a minority on liking the coiled ones here. oh well...
