    thanks for that, now, i am leased to a company, pull my own trailer, never any other trailer, seems like that would apply to me, but i am NOT a motor carrier, but the meaning is the same, NO?

    No. You are part of a Motor Carrier's fleet, so you must complete a DVIR as the regs state.

    You may quote me. "If the truck rolled in, it will roll out." Pre and Post trip inspections should only be done if the boss is around or it is your first time in a particular truck and trailer. If you are driving down the road and something breaks then write it down. Chances of it breaking down after you stop rolling are very slim. You may want to copy and paste that on your own computer.
