That is an interesting concept. I have noticed that rates get worse in the South and Southeast during the winter. It seems lots of owner operators think the same way you do. If you do end up going for it, I will be interested to see if you can keep rate per mile up.

Yeah, I know. I doubt I will do it, as the rates do tend to be better when you point your truck into the snow belt. If I can keep this thing loaded then I'll be good to go around our area, just not looking forward to hitting the brakes with a 8,400# empty trailer on a snowy road.

there is big money down here hauling to rigs if you have the contacts. however landstar does not have the contacts. i have a friend doing well over $6/mi hauling oilfield with direct customers. thats the kind of numbers oilfield pays just so you guys know how bad the brokers are bending you over when you get a load from them. the guys i know in oilfield only run loaded one directikn because when they look at the load boards for.something coming back its a joke compared to what they make. unfortunatly its miserable work all hours of the day and night and always running. i did it and to me its not worth it but i hate driving at night

i have no trailer anymore and most my flat experience is unverifyable. what they can verify is only about two months. which means i am looking for soemplace to take me on with no experience for all practical purposes. i have always hauled a fridge but there is no money in anything anymore. retirement sounds good but im too young
