Good place to work but it isn't easy work. I worked for FedEx Express and it was brutal. Did it for 6 months and went back on the road. Of course I didn't have that pension plan and way higher pay that UPS gives you. Better everything come to think of it. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

Will you have your own route or will you be doing overflow? That's what I did at FedEx Freight.

Well I worked for YRC/ Roadway Express here in the Chicago area from JAN 1999 They have currently been advertising 6 mon cdl driving experience
Now If you are A Road driver you will be on call and placed on what they call and extra board ,these are none scheduled runs you can be placed on a solo run or Team run you do not have a choice if you want to go Teams,,,,, unless you have a a Bid that is a scheduled run your senority will hold,Teams run west and east depending on where you work, solos you are probaly going up 500 miles going to bed maybe going to another terminal before you return to you home terminal ,ther are clocks every where 1st thing you do when you get to a terminal is puch the clocks so you can get payed you get payed by miles and by hours worked at terminals thats why you pucnh the clocks so you are on the clock as soon as you get there and make sure they place it in computor when you check out of that terminal so you get you hourly pay for drop hook etc etc etc yard wook or down time, you will get a mix of teams and solos on the extra board

Local you will be on what they call a A 10 PERCENTER BOARD 10 PERCENT OF THE WORK FORCE IS ON CALL YOU CAN BE CALLED ANY HOUR ANY DAY TO COME INTO WORK you can stay on this on call thing years until you get a bid shift or,get a bid fast if ecomy picks up this is all hourly pay and time and half after 8 hours in a day Questions ask
