Correct. I did not factor in credit, interest rates, etc. It was merely to prove a point that doing a l/p is like going to Aarons to buy a laptop. In the end, you'll pay $1800 for that $800 laptop that they paid $500 for. A Lot of people do it, and some pay it off. Most, however, turn the laptop in long before the lease is over for whatever reason and then the cycle restarts. It really is a fantastic (albeit slimy) way for businesses to profit.

I dont mean to insult anyone here, but I think that many truckers do the "rent to own" for furniture, appliances, electronics, etc. so they dont see anything wrong with lease to own from Aarons or a truck. Although many are successful at leasing a truck.

My trainer had everything leased to own. In fact when we were in his home town we stopped in so he could make his payments. He only had 2 or 3 payments left on his washer and dryer then he was going to buy a laptop. Just throwing his money away.

Hi all, im new to this form, and ill be new to this company. im just waiting to hear the all clear on my job verification.
If there is anyone that wants to give me there name ill put it down to my recruiter so u can get the bonus. from my experience with trucking its def. what you make of it. and the strong/rich is trying to capital on the weak. jerks are every were you go, and drama is right in front of you no mater what.
When i started trucking 2 years ago i came home to a fish tank, a water bed, and a note saying good bye. i left the fire department and went to the taboo trucking school that are offered from one of the big names. after i got my CDL and did my first year as a rental operator i went to another company to be a company strictly driver. just to change it up and do some flat bed. now im looking forward to coming to this place and getting that title in XXX years. i can honestly say the biggest thing i learned from my wife leaving me working for C.R England, then western express, is make the best of what life has to offer and live with your decisions.
I see people talking about this Brock guy and did no one think to run 2 steps a head of him and when he started his trash to put it all on the qualcomm or make him do the same? if hes so dishonest tell him hey put it on the qualcomm real quick ill stay on the phone with you that way we both know it went threw b.c ur in a area that dosnt have good reception, sometimes you have to beat jerks at there own game. or i see he forced dispatch. the one thing DOT will shut down a company down faster then you can blink is if they see that you use 5 words. NOT LEAGUE, and IM TOO TIRED. i don't care how many lawyers they have, they will pull a Tony Romo and choke all they way to the court house, and Brock will be sitting on a water bed with only a fish tank.
Yes who ever said that these rent to own is a scam. For people like me that dont have 20k to put down on a new truck and know the ins and outs of the industry from family (im 4th gen) and i was making 1900 a week at England and 700 at western... i guess what my little speech comes down to is, make the best of what you have, and were there's a will there a way.... now for the JCT people that still work there is there 386 available or do u probability have to wait the 90 days to go back and get one? i want a Pete, and i want one bad. semper fi

wow, this thread has to be an internet record of some type

JCT sounds like they were a great company to work for, many years ago, but because they allowed too much recklessness in their practice, they had to clamp down and as with any corporation these days, they make the workers bear the brunt of the suffering.

one thing i have found out about all of these lease-purchases, if your name is not on the registration/title, it is not your truck. This means, that on a 3yr lease/purchase, after 2yrs and 11 months, if the company fires you, or it goes under, or any other thing happens, that truck goes back to the manufacturer and you are plumb out of luck and money and time.

If these companies were honest, they would put your name on the title (maybe after 6 months to a year) and you would be co-owner until it was finally paid. But these lease-purchase thing is nothing but free money for these companies and they will never do that.

They dont have any 386 coming in anytime soon i dont think. And i dont see many drivers that have them turning them in either. You might get lucky who knows.

Peterbilt 386. I have one over at Freymiller. It is a Peterbilt 389 with a different hood. They are really nice trucks.

ok how is everybody long time no one posting you guys must be busy. anyone in florida know of a place or how to find a spot to park the tractor and trailer when you go on home time. seems the city here has an ordinance that you can not park a commercial vehicle in your yard even if its in the back and cant be seen from the street, that is really only my one hang up i think so far.
