Secretive??????????:biggrin_2559: Probably the opposite actually Kurt.

I'm sure though V8Lenny is itching to describe the function of the Actuator!!

It may take quite a few healthy debates and test results to establish a credible outcome. You already know the outcome so its a matter of debating the theoretical and actual known results.

Regardless of what V8Lenny or myself think your knowledge & understanding on the "Complete" Injector operation is probably one of the best in USA.

As always, the members here provide extremely helpful information. The entertainment value is near the top of the scale, also...:biggrin_25514:
Thanks everyone for helping the unfortunate and less informed (myself :biggrin_25526:). I expect many others enjoy also...

The things I left out in my azzbackwards reasoning explanation

The stock truck cam part number for every truck engine built from 435-600 Hp from 1998-Sept 31, 2002 is 137-0539. The injector lobe lift on this cam is lower than the cams I've talked about already.....

Now everybody should know that any difference in lift will also change the ramp rate.....to put simply it will not only increase the distance the plunger has to travel down into the injector body, but it has to travel this extra distance in the same amount of time at any given engine RPM. Plunger velocity/speed has increased to displace the fuel trapped in the injector body.

Now what Lenny is also talking about is you can change the ramp rate with the same lobe lift height. What this means is if the base circle of two cams is the same and the lobe lift height is the same.......you shorten the amount of time in crankshaft degrees of rotation to get from the base circle to the top of the lobe lift height. This will not increase the volume of fuel displaced by the injector, but it will theoretically increase injection pressures if as Lenny says there is no modulation of the actuator assembly to control injection pressures internally inside of the injector

The small injector 211-3022 used in the 6NZ 375 Hp engine has a constant test flow rate at the tip of

Note Code: A In Chg: 01 Out Chg: FINISHED ORIFICES TO PROVIDE A STEADY FLOW OF 2.473+/-0.050 KG/MIN AT 41 MPA USING TEST FLUID CORRECTED TO 40 DEG C

The standard 211-3023 or 10R-0957 is

Note Code: A In Chg: 02 Out Chg: FINISHED ORIFICES TO PROVIDE A STEADY FLOW OF 2.868+/-0.050 KG/MIN AT 41 MPA USING TEST FLUID CORRECTED TO 40 DEG C

The difference in the nozzle tip flow is 16% between these two injectors. This means that if everything is equal the larger injector will inject 16% more fuel into the engine each time it fires.

Now Lenny's argument is that the injection pressure will increase internally inside the injector body with the smaller tip. You have to realize that if this happens the volume of fuel emitted from each injector with everything being equal in the test engines that this 16% difference will not be 16%..........Why? The smaller injector will have a higher internal pressure at the tip which will allow a larger volume of fuel to escape through the orifices than the 16% difference show in the charts above. It will be a very small increase in volume, because as pressure rises so does the amount of fluid able to escape through the same size hole.

The only way you'll find out duration and timing events on CAT cams is to buy everyone of them and mapping the lobe profiles. CAT refuses to give any of this info out. I actually worked with a gentleman for awhile that had access to CAT engineers at CAT Corporate HQ to see if I could get this info, it never happened.

The intake and exhaust lifts are the same and the only reason those specs are published is for mechanics to decide if a cam is worn in an engine.

I will say this, once I installed the 1000 Hp camshaft in my engine the soot levels dropped 80% in my oil analysis reports and my fuel mileage increased by 10%. Somehow the engine gained a ton of efficiency at burning the fuel with this upgrade. My azzbackwards engineering speculates that both the ramp rate and duration changed drastically between the stock cam and this one:biggrin_25525:

I've been reading about different things you can do with a 6NZ to give it better performance along with a decent smoke show. Mine runs pretty good so no complaints in that department. I just want to add a little smoke to it. My question is about the resistor in the boost wire, what ohm and watt would be best to get a decent show without flooding the soot levels?

Buy a switchable boost senser resistor
Its cheap off ebay and by keeping my rpm's below my turbo it make a good display, also make mention of the 100hp injectors

Are you guys wanting your truck to smoke for visual effect only?

Do you want a small oil leak as well.
    Just for show of course.///
