4 truck operation, they would have to do better than that to get me fired. I just wrecked a truck and they bought me this one.

I hear ya on the truck number, but I don't have photoshop to get the truck number off.

I know, but it helps to put it out for others to know about the risk of the truck and numbers.

I do like the KW though.

your staying away for weeks at a time to save..17 hours right?..but if your regional u would still see ya house everyday most of the time though right?

now im always hearing the same numbers 35-40k first year..is that really real..i mean cuz imma a certified forklift driver and if i get another car i can go out in the burbs making 17$ and hour at edys ice cream or something..or making 14$ and hour at cloverland diary and be home everyday..but then again..i guess i wouldnt be able to make trucker money in the long run

Driving truck you'll probably shake out to about $13 to $14 an hr, but will be working real close to 70 hrs every week, thats where the better income comes from.

The owner of the site does not want to ever hear of that class A advertising site. :biggrin_25513:

You know its possible, it sounds really good. But you saw the requirements and the other thing is its probably just ONE job opening and lets say you and one other guy apply. You have the required 6 months with all the other requirements met and another guy with 20 yrs experience and all requirements applies, who do you think will get the job without any questions asked?
Get 6 months in and start applying for such a job. Its probably JB offering such a job tho.

There is a trucking school in Greeley CO that has the following advertisement on the side of their training trailer.....

"$42,000 a yr driving truck, work only 6 months a yr"

I don't believe that for a second. Real life is not that easy!

Just as an example, the local delivery to area pharmacies thing depicts a very real figure. I know first hand because I just turned down a job offer from a similar ad. I did my homework and talked to some of their drivers and the mechanics who service their trucks. The mechanics are friends of mine and I knew that I would get a better picture of how things really were than to talk to just the drivers. You'll learn that drivers, as a rule, are seldom happy and will be more apt to tell you the bad first...then the good about ANY company.

First though, you DO have to have the experience required.

My advise...Find a company that has a yard or terminal in your area. Get the job and be willing to deal with WHATEVER they throw at you for the first year or so. Very important here. Try and keep a GOOD safety record. A "Rookie Mistake" probably won't count too much against you, if it happens. I'm talking something like a fender bender here. However...a ROLLOVER will be a very bad thing. And NEVER,NEVER,NEVER abandon a truck under load. This IS "The Kiss of Death" to ANYBODIES driving career.

    Good luck.
