Why don't they like the Volvos they bought? I haven't met a driver with one yet who had any complaints at all. But while we're on the subject, maybe I should ask Cyanide why Heniff is phasing their Volvos out.

With the exception of the DPF, my understanding is that our Volvos here have been fairly reliable. Seems Bob (Heniff Jr.) just got a better deal with Peterbilt during our last equipment bid.
Personally I prefer the Volvo, even though the Pete has more interior space in the sleeper. But when it comes to safety, I think Volvo owns the rights to that department lol.....Last edited: Sep 12, 2012

9/13-9/15
Took Wed off and got a N Chicago dedicated run to finish up the week. Should make it back Saturday and will be in town for the Panther-Saints game. Hopefully I can get another dedicated run next week since I am taking Thurs and Friday off. -

Headed out to Charlotte in a few minutes with my wife to see if Cam Newton can play a little better against the Saints. I have Monday off and am only doing 1 run next week. Its about a 900 mile round trip up to Craemer Pa. Drive up there and go to bed at the unloading spot. Wake up the next morning, customer unload, drive back. Piece of cake. Going to spend a long weekend in the mountains after that.Cyanide Thanks this. -

Had a great long weekend in the Virginia mountains. I highly recommend the Virginia Creeper Trail bike ride. My fat ### was able to do a 17 mile bike ride on an old railroad bed. It ran next to a white water river most of the way with 10-15 bridges. We rented beach style cruiser bikes with tractor size seats in Damascus Va. For about $20 each(bike rental included) they drove us up to the top of the mountain. Its down hill the whole way with a couple of places to stop and eat/drink along the way. I live 100 miles from this place but have never done this trip before. It will be something I will do as a day trip for many years to come.
Monday I headed out with a dedicated Plaquemine La out and back load. Got back Wednesday around 15:00. Delivered the load Thursday at 6:30 AM and am off until Sat or Sunday. High Point is having a truck rodeo Saturday and no domiciled drivers are dispatched out until after it is over. That kind of sucks for me but I understand the politics of it. At least they gave me a good load on the front end. Hopefully I will get something out Sunday to help the bottom line. I am enjoying the time off though and really can't complain. My son is coming home from college for the weekend.
Fridays check finishes up the 3rd quarter. Even though this was my weakest quarter of the year it still totaled $15,337. I have had 64 days home through 3 quarters which is a little less than in years past. I define a day home as waking up and going to bed at home running 0 miles that day. Getting in Saturday morning and leaving Monday night would count as 1 home day in my book even if I got to spend lots of time at home after coming in and before going out.
Hopefully I can get out west again in the 4th quarter.Last edited: Sep 28, 2012
