It doesnt matter how good you are,how well you get along with your FM or how well you do,OTR/REG Dry Van is only 6% of JBH and shrinking quickly,JBH is trying to to reduce it to 400-800 trucks, witnessed personally high mileage loads brokered out to other carriers and you get a 400 mile 4 hr unload, you will visit the same shipper/recievers over and over pulling high paying(to JBH not YOU) Top 10/Service Critical loads, been there 8 months,98% on-time on 110 loads,33% idle and 6.8 MPG,get along great with FM,did several favors including giving up 2009 Cascadia to fly to ATL p/u new truck, lived without my stuff for 6 wks until getting back to Stockton and to date made 23k,waiting for my HazMat and a phone call and im quitting, know several SW6 drivers on food stamps as well,do yourself a favor and look elsewhere,or do IM/DSC there is good pay there.

So I've read most of the 12 pages of random banter in this thread and I'm quite amazed. Some of the information reminds of the dried puke in the alleyway next to the local pub.
Some of those include:
Policy violation on my DAC report for no reason: Ol Jb has 14k drivers? But they decided to take time to ding your report for no reason. I would think their HR/Saftey departments have better things to do taking care of the people that are still employed rather than making up false DAC reports. The truth probably is that you did violate company policy but your manhood is too small to admit it.
JB is always hiring: Prospering companies are always looking for new people because they are GROWING! Sure people quit, but that's to be expected with as many drivers as they have. I would bet percentage wise they have less than 10% turnover per year (pretty good for a trucking outfit IMO)
I don't contribute to 401k: This is probably a good idea, I don't like it when a company adds 50% to my retirement savings just because they are too big and too bad to be nice to their drivers...
We team at 6k-8k a week: 6k is a good week, 8k is possible in theory stretching a log book, driving 80mph with no traffic, all drop and hook but very unlikely in a real world.
I would like to see a negative report about a company that was specific and included all the details. You find similar threads on every companies forum, most of the start out with "they lied!" it's amazing how the worst 5% are the loudest. JB is doing something right if they are growing like they are. I've seen plenty of openings for good paying driving jobs posted in their site. Bottom line is drive well, show up on time, communicate efficiently, do what your told (yes this is tough for some people but you are an EMPLOYEE not the employer so you are getting paid to do what they say), be a decent reasonable person and I'm sure Ol' JB will treat you well. -
kenny do you work for jb? Your right on the money with this last post.

No I don't work for JB. I am researching what company I want to go work for. I have experience so there is about thirty companies blowing up my phone. I just see the same kind of negative posts about every company and it gets a bit annoying when people dont elaborate on why the company is bad they just call them liars, cheaters bla bla bla. In my region (Minneapolis) JB has 6 or 7 openings right now for various positions so they are near the top of my list. I worked for a coveted "small carrier" before and even though they treated me well, took care of their equipment and were responsive the freight fell off the map Jan-Apr and they were pulling another companies loads (at a discount
I was paid %). So now I am thinking a bigger carrier that should have more oppertunity, and from what I ahve seen JB seems to have plenty.

there is way to much BS people are putting on here to deter drivers from opportunities. I always say talk to the drivers for those companies, some of the critcizm might actually be there but all this be littling is useless.

intermodal is way to go.. Its great.

I thoroughly enjoy clever sarcasm and I'm half embarrassed to say the 401k thing actually took me a minute to grasp (What can I say, I'm but a meager truck driver!)
You offer some solid advice in your last paragraph, thanks for the intelligent commentary. -
I agree with the poster who said that large truck companies do not lay off drivers. They find ways to fire them instead. I applied recently to JB Hunt from an ad that did not mention it was JB Hunt. I was horrified to hear the name JB Hunt on the phone. Their craigslist ad stated that they were looking for day cab intermodal drivers and the requirement was experience of 1 year within 5 years. I had 3 within 5. They refused to hire me stating that I "was on unemployment" and they don't hire people on unemployment. Hmmmm. Clearly, JB Hunt is fearful of anyone who collects unemployment - a major red flag for working for this company. Wonder if this is a violation of any federal/state laws. If it is, I'm going to shove it up their a---s like a jackhammer.

ewill71 Thanks this.

and one more thing, I've been only doing this truckin' thing for 4 years now and even I know that if they want you gone they'll starve you with crap loads until you have to quit. Plain and simple.
