The Central Transport terminal by me has the worst equipment and worst facility Ive ever seen. And I drive for a company that has junk too, but not like Central Transport.

No joke, just stop one day by any central transport terminal, and check the equipment.

do not work here, you may die. broke down three times in one night, one was a total break failure going down hill with 40 thousand pounds in the box. centrals maintenance program is we will fix it when its broken. central dose pay very well but its just not wort it, better off some where else making less.check out this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDuKF2Oprks

I worked there for nearly 4 years on linehaul and city. Very interesting place to work. But, I was home everyday.

They dont invest on equipment, and they dont invest in hiring good terminal managers.

I made real good money but the working conditions and work atmosphere was horrible. Anyone that has worked Hammond, IN knows what I'm talking about. The main dock supervisor was a marine that thinks he's still in the service. I think he left though. All the floor supervisors were 21 year old college grads that loved to show their new found authority with romper room tactics. House cleaning was non existent. Forklifts had square tires and dead batteries. New guys would be told they can't take a break or lunch. I've never seen so many ragged out trucks. Duct tape repairs were common. Truck drivers are scum was the over all atmosphere.
My terminal manager was a real charmer. Twice I got yelled at for something another driver done. You'd think the manager was in a domestic dispute the way he yelled at the top of his lungs.
It's good as a gig. I wouldn't even think about a career there. Most last less than 6 months unless they tough it out for a P&D position.LostOne9 Thanks this. -
