Holy Wormcrap Batman..:biggrin_2556: Now I know how those frogs and other assorted critters felt after I dissected them.O.K.-I still practice this, but I know I shouldn't admit to it.

I do hope the OP let's us know how this turns out for him,as his "condition" should not (unfairly) I hope hold him back from Truck Driving. Of all the "conditions" I seem to encounter everyday-his seems to be not bad at all.Wish more peeps would keep to themselves out heah.:biggrin_255:

seeing how your medical condition has symptoms that are directly affected by the requirements of this job, that might b why you were let go. here are symptoms related to asperger syndrome.

    • Their body language may be unusual.
    • They may speak in a monotone, and may not respond to other people's comments or emotions.
    • They may not understand sarcasm or humor, or they may take a figure of speech literally.
    • They do not recognize the need to change the volume of their voice in different settings.
    • They have problems with eye contact, facial expressions, body postures, or gestures (nonverbal communication)

    • Are unable to respond emotionally in normal social interactions
    • Are not flexible about routines or rituals
    • Do not express pleasure at other people's happiness

    • Clumsiness when walking or doing other activities
    • Repetitive finger flapping, twisting, or whole body movements
    • all the above items are more or less related to driving. drivers are smart ###e$, you have no set schedule, you cant be clumsy when on a customers dock, you have got to make eye contact and physical contact with persons on a regular basis and you sure cant be juking around in the drivers seat while operating a big piece of equipment risking other people as well as yourself.

I don't quite understand why ANY company would kick someone out of the seat that actually has less to say than
    your normal generic yappy driver?
I remember a guy (story time) I met in w.v. truck stop.We were the only two in the t.v. room on a Sat. The guy
drove for Werner. He was very reserved, but once he started talking,I could tell he had problems carrying a conversation.
I couldnt quite figure him out,but he was extremely nice. That probably didnt make any sense, but I felt really bad
for the guy.He told me he had failed his road test several times, but they gave him extra help, and he was finally on his own.
It was nice to talk to someone that wasn't all f.o.s. :biggrin_25519:
I see nothing wrong with keeping to yourself.Sometimes you can learn a whole lot not saying a word.
Those are the kind of drivers I would want driving for me.
Keep looking O.P. you will find the right company that will appreciate you for who you are.

Yes and while all of that IS symptoms of Aspergers, those that are bad enough to disqualify a person from driving, would qualify the person for a S.S.I. check and vocational rehab. Those with the more extreme cases, no they shouldn't be driving a car, let alone a semi.

My son can climb a tree like a flippin squirrel, I'm clumsier than he is...I don't have A.S. he does. Both my brother and I came out of childhood with tons more scar's, broke bones and other mis-haps than my son ever thought of haveing. Unfortunately my son was more of a target for bullies than either my Brother or I, as this was in school it doesn't affect him as much as it did then.

Not showing the proper emotions isn't as big of a hinderance for someone that see's the same ppl once or twice a month or less, than it would be if he worked in an office. Generally speaking it usually is taken for shyness. As the majority of people with A.S. would rather be loners than the center of attention, I don't think it's a big hinderance for someone that in the main doesn't deal with the same ppl all the time. What most ppl tend to think is "oh he's shy" or "Boy is he stuck-up". Which is their problem, not his as long as they aren't jerks, they will leave him alone.

I hear that "waiting" ended on the day you were hired, :laughing1::smt045
