I was driving back home on I-65 North and was about 5 car lengths behind a semi when I noticed this car coming on the entrance ramp very fast. He had to have been doing 85+ MPH since I was going 80. I let off the gas a bit and let the car move onto the highway, and he ran up VERY quickly on the back of the semi truck...I thought for sure that he was going to rear-end it. The passing lane was clear of traffic, and the semi was not going particularly slow...I was coming up on it to pass, but I would say that the semi was moving along around 75 MPH. Instead of passing the semi, the driver in this car continues to tailgate the semi while riding his brakes then cuts in front of the semi so closely it looked like the semi had a Toyota bumper attachment. The semi driver slowed the truck down, but the car driver also slowed down and kept up his game of tailgating then moving to the front of the truck to play 'chicken' with it. Finally, the driver of the car hit the gas and took off. I saw him later down the road, pulled over by the police hopefully in response to the call about his driving.
This whole incident made me wonder if any of you have ever been on the receiving end of road rage, either from four wheelers or even other semi drivers?

I drive a straight truck around the DC area, I've seen some of that, but I like to think of it like a fly buzzing a cow, more of an annoyance than anything else. Honestly, the worst that's gonna happen is you eff up and get smoked, truck'll be pretty jacked up but odds are, I'll live to tell the tale, you won't. If I can see you in my back up camera, I'm letting off the gas, you can either go around or chill back there, I really don't care.
Now on the other hand, every single day I see 18 wheelers running about 10 feet from the back of a car, I know for a fact that no matter what you're carrying, even bobtailing, there isn't a shot in hell if they stand on the brakes that you're gonna be able to stop in time.
Either way, DC beltway is quite possibly the worst place I've ever driven, save for times square....Oh god...Never again..Maria Joseph and BlueThunderr Thank this. -
I've seen that sort of thing in my area too. And I think of it like bullet does it's more of an annoyance tailgating doesn't really bother me much because I don't worry about what's directly behind me unless I'm backing. What drives me up a wall is when somebody passes me and then proceeds to cut me off and do what that guy did to the driver in your case and slow down. I had a lady do that to me last week on hwy 81 took her 8 miles to pass me then cut me off and slowed down to 50 in a 60. Hit a hill with a truck lane took the truck lane and came around her running 65 and her husband/boyfriend/significant other had the odasity to give me the finger for passing them. But I also agree with bullet can't count the number of times I've seen trucks tail gating cars at 10ft. or less makes you wonder who gave the people a license. As for the guy you're talking about it's funny that he was caught by the poilce but the movie joy ride comes to mind he'll eventually piss of the wrong person and wind up in a ditch that's why I try not to get road rage.

Years ago I saw this on the back of a trailer: "A professional driver is one who stays out of trouble and helps his fellow drivers to do the same." Seems like the truck driver was a professional. He didn't take the bait.
The answer to OP's question is yes, but only from four-wheelers.Maria Joseph Thanks this. -
