You guys carry a gun to your hearts content. In fact, if it makes you feel safer, mount a bazooka on your hood and claim it's a hood ornament. it really doesn;t make a bit of difference to me. But don't call me when you get put in jail in small town USA and need someone to bail you out f the clink. I won't do it. Got better things to do with my money.

A firearm depends on how big your arms are!:biggrin_25525:

    Newbiewannadoitright,

Well said. You took the words right outta my mouth. I personaly liken packing a pistol in your truck "just in case". Much like the mandate to carry chains through truckee pass in the winter. Ya may never need 'em, but sure nice to have ifya need em, juuuuuust like any personal defense item.

That little bit about Jane Fonda is straight out of the leftist liberal kommy handbook. They are ELITE and far above us peasants, in their mind. Reminds me of the time when as mayor of Gay Bay, Dianne Fienstien was caught trying to enter a city building with a concealed handgun, this after her after handgund ban passed in San Fransissyco.

BTW, California has no laws "mandating" chains be carried anywhere in the state. This is a common misconception due to Washingtons law which does require from October through May I believe. I spoke to a lieutenant with the California Highway Patrol Truck Enforcment division in Sacramento who told me the only time California law required chains on the truck was when in a chain control area(this means the sign are turned and the road/weather is nasty). They do check trucks in the area when the chain law is in effect and will write quite sizable citations for not having them on. Sorry for the off topic comment, just needed to let you guys know that particular piece of info.

Also, I to am a member of the NRA and carry a Sig P229 .40 cal S&W. Nice gun, I just hope I don't ever have to use it.

Maybe I should start wearing an inflatible airbag suit and be like the michelin man. This would protect me from all the drunk drivers who pose a threat with their cars. You gotta be prepared.

Maybe the suit can be radiation-proof, just in case a nuclear plant I'm driving by just happens to have a melt-down.

Maybe I can carry my very own cholesterol counter or artery plaque-remover for all the junk food I have eaten in the past. If I feel a heart attack coming on, I can simply clean out the blockage in a minute or two.

Maybe I should mount a roll cage over the cabin of each and every vehicle I drive, just in case a tree falls on me while moving down the road.

Maybe I could start lugging along my own portable bomb shelter in case the North Koreans or the Iranians launch a nuclear attack on the area I just happen to be in at that time.

Maybe I'll just stay in bed. But then I could die from a sedentary lifestyle.

Dead is dead is dead. If you feel like you gotta carry guns, you should do at least some of the above as well.

If you feel that way then so be it, but your opinion doesn't negate my Constitutional RIGHT to KEEP and BEAR ARMS. The DC Circuit Court of Appeals has declared this to be an INDIVIDUAL right of the people and not just a collective right of the state. The Supreme Court will validate this opinion in January and that, my friend, will be the law of the land. If you don't like guns, so be it. Please don't push your beliefs on anyone else.

Those of us who've ran alot of NYC and Jersey metro tend to side with packing heat, just to be on the safe side. If all I ever ran was Wyoming-Montana and back to the midwest, I'd probably have a different tune.

Look, I'm not trying to start anything here, or get under anybody's skin. Everyone has a right to determine their own needs, whether personal defense, or whatever. I also carry a backpack when I travel with extra food, water, fire making gear, space blankets, poncho, good knife, etc. Not that I'm waiting on WWIII, but I just prefer to be a little better prepared. I was raised that way, by a Father who taught me to do so. And it's actually paid off a couple of times when I got lost in the woods at 15, or broken down in the middle of nowhere when a snow storm hit. I'm not paranoid, maybe I just feel a little better when I prepare for what I percieve as my self preservation. There's nothing wrong with that.

You'll never find me flashing a gun or knife, or handling one irresponsibly. I consider that a slap in the face to my family, who is very pro-gun, and all normal reason. In fact being 6'6" tall and over 300 lbs, I can avoid "many" confrontations just in size intimidation, but you'll probably see me steer away from trouble or try to walk away from a physical confrontation. What bother's me is..... sometimes there are fools out there that won't let you walk away, or target you with a weapon and sometmes you have to defend yourself. Look at some of these morons out there. Watch a few rap music videos or look at the news and tell me what these scumbags are doing. Theses hoodlums are substitutung a weapon for manhood. They feel a weapon is power. That is until someone doesn't back down and meets them with the same amount of force and intimidation. They cowar away usually, because someone actually was not controlled by their substitution of power. If that's not the way you feel, then fine, no problem, we'll disagree on these points, but that's the way it is with people. We don't always agree. However, I would never force my rules of defense or protection on anyone who doesn't want to look at things the same way. I base my decisions on what I see, what I've experienced, and what I was taught...... nothing more, nothing less. That's what I'm talking about. Friends folks!!!:msmile:

    +1, well said again.

It should be all about individual freedoms and personal choices.

Why this country has made it legal for mothers to choose to kill their unborn, yet frown on or outright ban a trucker from wanting to carry and protect himself from unkown danger in the numerous ghettos he is sent to, IS BEYOND BELIEF.

Criminals prefer unarmed subjects.......(for those here who were unaware of that simple fact)

Feel free to be unarmed. It is your right and choice......
