In nearly 2 years I've only had to buy two of them.
The first one was falling apart about 6 months ago, so I bought another.

I used to use one quite a bit. Mine fell started to fall apart pretty quickly but it was still usable. Now that I drive the same 2200 mile stretch of road over and over I never need it.

When I was OTR (I'm not semi-local...) I would pick about 3 stops at the beginning of my planned day. One was furthest out and the other two were incase i needed to stop earlier or if there was traffic jammed up somewhere. I'd sometimes plan another one just incase the lot was full. Some applications even have a local search option where it can search for the closest rest areas, truckstops, or Walmarts in the area.
