Not all trucks have those sensors. Sensors can fail. I like the sight glass, and the tank "Ping".

There are several companies that do not have retain lights. I have two trucks without them. The overfill sensor/system is the only one required at the racks. Retain sensors are something nice to have but not required.

What is this certification you mention? Is this strictly a company certification?

Very little slosh in gas tankers due to the multi compartments

A rack "Certifies" that you know how to load at their facility.

Who provides the certification? Is this a state, federal or carrier requirement?

    Where I need to be.

It is a private requirement of the owner of the facility. It helps prevent problems.

What if you have more fuel loaded than will fit into a tank at your drop? Can you drop a partial load or do you not drop at all? And what do you do with an unloaded trailer? Probably stupid questions but Id like to enter this field so maybe I can do some of my training right here and have a general knowledge base to work from :)

Different companies have different protocols, most put as much as it will hold then take the rest to another drop usually pays $15 extra to split but pain in the butt. You usually keep the same trailer all the time, very important to know you've got what you need on your trailer (hose lengths, adapters, compartment sizes...)

I was getting the impression from other threads that once you open a valve you can not close it back until the compartment was empty. I was reading into the information a little too much. Do you ever have to go on top and open a hatch or can you figure out that you are empty from gauges or sensors?
It looks like there are a lot of different couplings and hoses but I suppose with a little training you can get a handle on whats what pretty fast.
