And I'll stand by your words too, I've experienced as a small contractor the different makes in Europe, paccar/DAF doesn't stand up to it at all, I'll vouch for your friend too, at least in euroland Volvo engines are brilliant, I owned two of them, sold both trucks with 1m kms on the clock and I promise you this: I spent nothing on them other than servicing and (for some reason) alot of headlight bulbs! A small operators wet dream!

Oh by the way, no answer from daf105paccar yet, what mileage did u rebuild your bosses engine??
Aww come on, tell all the nice people how long your paccar engine ( the one you're defending) lasted before a rebuild ! 200,000kms or miles?? -
Here's the answer, 220,000 kms or 137,500 miles, that's about right, same as mine, this is your post :

I know plenty of people here with the same experience, if they don't blow up before 600,000 kms they will be worn out, even newer engines are having the same problems, stay far away from them, absolute crap, stick with your cummins, you'll regret it if you don't

Very strange that you use those to voice an opinion about the MX engine as Paccar only sold the first MX's in 2006.
And i have an MX engine.
Gross at 96000pounds.
Between 8 and 9mpg.(our version is without EGR)
My engine was rebuild at 220 000km for extreem oilconsumption.
And i was very happy about it as i planned it when i was on holiday and Paccar did the rebuild free off charge.
I now have a younger engine which didn't cost me anything.
About the DEF system, there is one point that nobody has mentioned.
There is bad DEF fluid on the market(make from pellets which they dissolve in water)
People who have used that here have had problems.
So if you buy DEF,make shure it is from a certified source.
