Got my callback from Gracie yesterday. (Thanks, for the recommendation, guys... she was awesome to work with!) My application to Prime has been approved!

Now, the bad news... As a female, I have to wait for a female trainer. Them's the rules; no exceptions. The gal that just got called in got on the list in June. Hopefully, there will be some dropping off the list as we approach the holidays.

With my luck, I'll get called in for 12/18...

Swift will let you go with a male trainer if you want, (some females prefer it).
Prime won't allow male trainers with female trainees because of sexual harrasement liablity.

Prime is under investigation from the EEOC after some women lodged a "sex discrimination" complaint against them for the trainer availability reason. Although I'm not sure how they force women to be trainers that don't want to be - - which would be a whole other sex discrimination case. I guess they could pay female trainers more than men to incentivize them to do it, but then that would be pay discrimination based on gender against men.

Oh the wicked webs we weave.

Ahhhh...Keyster... Get your story straight. Prime was involved in an incident involving a female trainee being attacked/harassed by a male trainer. The trainer got sued & charged & convicted. The EEOC made a recommendation, and Prime is following that recommendation.

Now, Prime is being sued by the EEOC because there are too many females waiting for a trainer, and not many females want to train. if you want to get the story straight, do your homework.

Personally, I like the rule. I am glad that I have the opportunity to train with a female trainer, even if it does mean that I will have to wait until nearly Christmas to start at Prime.

That said, it would be nice to have the option of waiting for a female trainer, or going with a male trainer.

I have read about studies that show people tend to learn better in a 1:1 situation (like we have) when their trainer is the same sex as they are. In my experience as a manager, who had to train the new hires, I have seen this with some of my trainees. I surely don't know why it is; my guess is that men simply relate better to other men, just as women generally relate better to other women.

I intend to become a trainer for Prime, as long as I have some say (at least gender-wise) of who I am going to train.

You won't have to worry about the gender choice at prime because you will be training only women anyway.

First, its well worth the wait. IMO, we have a great training program - although sometimes the people vary. When you do get into training, make sure you stay in contact with your FM - a weekly call is good practice, more often if the situation requires it.

Second, there is another side to this as well. Female students have at times used the threat of a sexual harrassment claim to attempt to change decisions of their male trainers regarding the status of their training, etc. It works both ways, and that kind of unfounded charge has led to ruined careers and destroyed marriages.

cwc: I understand that this is currently the case; who knows what will be the case after the current lawsuit gets resolved.

IP: While the $600/wk guarantee is what first got my attention, it was the training program that really "set the hook" for me to go with Prime. If a decade of class B driving has taught me one thing, it's that there's always more to learn.

I think once that case is over with, i think prime will stick to there guns to let women train women.

There was a female trainer that paired up with a male in my class. Sucks you have to wait.

That probably was a "train your partner" gig. That's the only exception I know of.
