It's not then issue of wind that's shutting me down.
But when I have to pay extra fuel to get load delivered for no reason, and it amounts to several hundred dollars, I'll shut down.
If you want to toss that kind of money out then window, feel free to toss it my way.
high winds and shutting down.

Yes, hubby and I do pay for our fuel, but we have found that 95% of the time trying to 'sit it out' does no good. Very often the wind/weather actually gets worse.Gizmo_Man Thanks this.

No they aren't normal.
Then deadline to get there is flexible. So if you can get there and be able to save several hundred, I don't see a problem.
Glad you are so care free about fuel over head. Especially since these are then same super truckers tautin riving 58 mph -
Half the year through KS and the Midwest the winds rarely get below 20-30 mph. That's an everyday thing. Never get anywhere if you shut down due to that.
And the fuel excuse....no doubt more fuel will be used in a head or cross wind. But 300 bucks in a 90 mile stretch....a bit of exaggeration.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
I own my truck, trailer, and authority.. Pay for my own fuel.. 30 mph winds, even a headwind aint nothin to pull over for. and if its gonna cost you an extra $300 to finish your last 90 miles because of a little headwind, maybe you oughta seek out some faster winds, let it blow you over and let that insurance payout buy you a better truck. I cant tell you how many times i've crossed the upper midwest and felt like i was driving a rocking chair with the winds rocking me back and forth, but thats now reason to stop. Being safe and cautious of dangerous conditions is one thing. 30mph winds??? come on
lonewolf4ad, Raiderfanatic, DrtyDiesel and 1 other person Thank this.
