Occasionally it makes sense.
Screwed up my timing once couldnt deliver on time and take a full 10 first.
Shut down for 8 in Sleeper, was able to leave and deliver less than an hours drive away. Customer took more than 2 hours to unload which I also logged SB. There was my 8/2.
Remember the 8 HAS to be Sleeper and 2 can be Off Duty or Sleeper.
But I do reccommend against doing it, unless you are on ELogs too easy to screw up.
How do you "split" your 10 hours?

umm, what is this 10 hours of driving?
Rogerthat Thanks this. -
Thanks for the link, North Ont., appreciate it, eh? -
I agree, there is very little reason to use the split sleeper exemption unless your co-driver falls ill or some other unforeseen complication comes up. Best thing to do is work a full day, get a full nights sleep and you'll live a better life and will be in it for the long-haul.

Ok here we go as I understand the split sleeper if you must
the straight 8 has to be first then the 2 later. -
Thanks for the info, everyone. I think in the beginning I shall implement the time honored KISS method. But I can see how this might come in handy down the road. Just another tool from trucker tool box...
