Good advice IMO on antennas, or a Wilson 2000, or a good fiberglass antenna like Francis, Skip Shooter, etc. Remember go as long as you can get away with for best performance.

Finding anything CB related with a "Made in the USA" sticker on it is going to be a trick...
But, IMO probably the best Power Mic on the market right now is the RF Limited Extreme 2018...This thing not only is a Power Mic, but also a noise canceling Mic, echo Mic, all in one......I have one on each of my 3 set-ups now and can't see ever using anything else...
I also use to not see a need for Power Mic's with radios that have a "Mic Gain" knob, but once you figure out where to set the Mic gain ,and where the best setting is on the Mic, then a Power Mic can give you that extra beefy sound...
Plus, with the 2018 Mic, if you have a radio that doesn't have echo, this Mic has a echo board already in it, so no need to have a connex board installed in your radio...Mater-a-fact, on the radios I have that have echos already in them, I keep them turned off, and use the echo in the Mic which IMO sounds better...
In my case I found that having the adjustment wheels on the back of the Mic both set at "2", sounds the best. -
fiberglass whips break way too easy.

If the cord split you could just cover it with shrink wrap, I used to have some shrink wrap tape just for fixing cables

Only if you hit stuff with them.......

There's one power mic I can think of that's made in Ohio and probably hands down the best power mic you could buy.....and that's the Astatic 575-M6. There's just one problem....
They're not made anymore, and people tend to hang on to them like the family jewels.
However you can find them on eBay from time to time. I've seen them go anywhere from $80 for a used one and over $100 for a new one.
However you will find they offer a sound that you'd have to hear to believe. Nice booming audio quality.
I ran one with a Connex 3300 and was always getting compliments.
